Just turn on defroster beforehand....soap the BG (or any other method you choose)...let dry to haze...turn off engine....shrink as usual. Film shrinks better and faster......

Heat shrinking BG
Not sure if anyone on here tried this or not (have not use the search for this one...LOL), but today I turned on the defroster, let it warm up a bit and started to shrink the BG. To my amazement, the film shrinks a whole lot better and easier....it just stayed put when heat form to the glass. If you haven't tried this, I recommend trying it...works great!!!

shoot yeah ill try it
ok. i tried it on three cars that came in on friday. 08 altima, 05 malibu and a chrysler sebring. i know these are really easy dry shrink with soap. but i think that you maybe onto something lickmytints. i dont know if anyone has tried it besides me and you, or if it has been discussed before. but i swear to you that it did seem to shrink better, and faster than without the defroster on. compared to the same cars i have shrunk before without defroster on.
i do it all the time works great ....
Glad I could help!
I'll try it tomorrow, thanks for the tip
when you do it let it be on for at least 5 mins works best bet its really warm

I have been doing this for some time, although it's very rare down here for it to be a necessity...
Sounds like an interesting concept. I will try it tomorrow. The temp. here has been well below -10c during the day, not to mention the wind chill factor. lol
Cheers B........
yeh....I also tried this on 5 other cars after I discovered this method and they all works wonder. I turn the defroster on first let it warm up then shrink with the engine & defroster still on.....works amazingly well.
Good idea, I'm going to try it

If I left the engine on in my shop..I'd be chocking in about 2 minutes QUOTE (LickMyTints @ Feb 24 2008, 10:04 PM) [*]596538[/*] yeh....I also tried this on 5 other cars after I discovered this method and they all works wonder. If its the car battery you are worried about, why not use a battery charger instead. QUOTE (rubberbizkitt @ Feb 25 2008, 11:13 AM) [*]596610[/*] Why do you have the engine running in the car? I've been trying this tip since i first read it....I like it...seems to work great for me
works good thanx
Let me see if I've got this.
For an easier FASTER backglass shrink....... Turn on defroster... wait 5 minutes.... Shrink (fast and easily).... wait till glass cools back down...... Install tint. I was gonna ask what to do while all the waiting is going on, but I figgered it out!
I'm guessing this is a cold weather tip for those north of the mason-dixon. can't imagine why it would make the least bit of difference when you get 80deg days in the middle of winter.
