I just began rolling film not that long ago and I first tried it without anything for a weight. I know it has been said to use a broom handle or something on here. I found my best solution and it fits in my tool box nicely. I got a 4 foot piece of 1/2 CPVC water pipe and 2 - 1/2" couplers. I cut the pipe into 2 pieces. One is 24" and the other 2 are 12". If I need a longer than 24" piece I can add one or both of the 12" pieces via the couplers and it makes for a great weight. Without the couplers the pipe is a perfect fit into the Johnson's Pre-cut program rolls......
So, Easily Portable Drop Weight with a couple dollars worth of CPVC pipe.....

Or you can go buy those wooden painter's extension handles that screw into each other making a wooden pole as long as you need and all the peices are only about 12 inches each.

I use the long plastic "handle" that comes when you buy a stick of yellow turbo.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
