Use a bulldozer to push down behind the brakelight - take it slow and steady and you'll have no problems. If you have a look at the Mercedes CLS thread you'll see some good tips. We use rubber wedges when the brake lights are real tight. With the odd exception where you have to take em out (Ferrari 612 Scaglietti is one i remember) Door trims are just one screw behind grab handle and they pull away at the top to allow you to remove the interior rubber seal - same as Range Rover, BMW etc. Hope this helps.
Sounds straight forward then, hope there is more room behind the brakelight than the CLS though, I hate those cars and the strip out is a nightmare! I use an inflatable wedge when needed to create a gap between backglass and rear shelf. Works a treat

Got hold of an XF today, rear shelf was very very close to back glass (just like CLS) Decided to remove rear deck, put seats forward, remove rear side panels, remove four push in clips and thats it! 5 Minutes max. Well worth the the 5 minutes to remove, gives easy access and all electrics can be fully covered. IMO
did one today, ill post pics tomorrow
I have one of these to do..looking forward to the pics.
![]() 3M cs20% on the rears and 35% on the fronts
I thought you were posting pics of the install for some reason.
Did it go OK?
look forward to see a few before years end.I will be removing the light.
Did one today not to bad. No matter what size pic I try to load it says it's to big
ok i finally had to pull the deck on an XF. we had to do the car in 3M 50% all the way around, we only had enough to do the back once, and she is one of my most picky customers. so there are three bolts underneath that hold the auto screen. you pull the side pillars, they are 2 piece and the pillar airbag bolts have to be removed. pull the seat down and remove 3 clips and the latch covers. the side pillars on the seats have to be removed as well but there is a latch that releases them. the deck can now be removed. there are 2 cables that can be unclipped. the deck cannot be completely removed though, like the 300's. takes about 10 minutes. one of the trickiest ones to remove but after doing one they should be easy.
oh the main reason we did it was because this one was super tight. bulldozer wouldnt fit and the bottom of the light was all white from rubbing the glass. GL if you have to do this, we've done 5 of these and this was the first time to pull the deck.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
