make some speaker covers with some vinyl and be done with it, if he wants the whole rear pannel say sorry not your fault.

I would try and show him what you have found and see what comes of it.

Definatly good research, I would make sure to show it to him and here is the thing, you cant call a customers car a POS but it is what it is. Tell him to be real and if he still doesn't understand then he isn't the kind of customer you shuold feel bad abut telling him to get to steppin!
