I am still working on that 2000sf Social Security building proposal. Its been almost a month now to get them to make a decision. My buddy (doing the contracting on the build out), has given them everything I have sent to him that LLumar has published in regards to being approved for government requirements. The requirements call for a 7mil safety film with a wet or dry attachment system. In my proposal I quoted for LLumar Magnum 8mil N1020 (they wanted tinted). Why do they have any question as to if this film meets the government standards?????? I am going nuts here. Isnt practically all 8mil film approved for government buildings? Isnt that why the damn stuff was made? I sent them spec sheets, testing data sheets, freeking video tests, cover letters. They had the nerve to ask for a signed letter from the film manufacture stating that the film was approved for government use. WTF??? Is there a definitive piece of documentation I can send these douche bags?
I have sent them everything the LLumarTech website has to offer. I am about to just give up on this five figure sale......VC, any suggestions??????

ditto.gif especially at payment time.
Sometimes these high $$$ jobs are the biggest nightmares.
Every aspect of the project must be right on and written and agreed to by all partys involved, from material availabilty , install timeline , waste removal etc..gets complicated sometimes.
Last Gov. Job I did I had a 4 inch thick contract...FROM THEM!
If going through a G.C. then make sure he has you best interests at hand also. twocents.gif trust.gif

not to mention those with DEADLINES, and if you go over the DEADLINE they start deducting from the original invoice per hour!

All these government orders consist from many parts.
Part N1. Government make a decision to install film or not to install
Part N2. Lobby competition - WHO's film will be install
Part N3. WHO will install films
Part N4. Payment.
And all these parts are as slow as possible.
So - don't worry - it's normal.

The gov wants a signed letter stating that the film is GSA approved. Standard stuff....your Llumar rep should have one in his hip pocket. No big deal. Call me or Boo if ya need assistance....

Maddy's Safety Sheild Program seemingly relabels regular 8-mil, charges a giant entry fee..and then requires prior notice of the job with all the particulars b4 they will send the film. (on jobs that require GSA certs.)

No SS ..no warranty....

It is my understanding that the gov't has a new standard to which they require the film to be tested, which is ridiculous IMO. Its "Department of Defense" (DoD) testing which is very close to GSA testing with a "few" differences I'm told by the tech people at one of the manufacturers. Problem #1 There are limited choices of films since it costs huge bucks to perform the testing and only a few manufacturers are willing to step up to the plate. Problem #2 It takes forever to work through the red tape.

I lost a job for a military application last year because I only had film with GSA testing and they required DoD testing. Bullspit.

See now, this where the IWFA should be lobbing inside the government when these people start to come up with "Testing requirements" and smooze them to make requirements that film meets. Like dr*g company's and the FDA! If they would have done that with Dade county, we would have Dade approved film! All they needed to do was smooze a 21/2" hole instead of a 3" and the window film industry would be totally different!!
FilmBlazer
/agree and the testing differences are minimal to say the least. Rather than adapt around the standards already in place, the gov't feels more tax dollars should be wasted in this fashion. twocents.gif

Had issues with this years ago on a Govt job. Wanted the manufacturer to state in a notarized letter that the film would stop ALL intrusions............DUH. IMPOSSIBLE to get from the Manufacturer............

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
