I am so freaked out

Monday, a guy came in that was very nervous. My gut told me he was going to rob me. I was alone at the shop. I stood up from the desk and aproached him and the door. Kinda pushing him towards the door. He asked me about window tinting, for a price and then a couple of plain questions. I again looked him in the eye and shook his hand. He said his name was Mose. A short time later I had to go and pick up my son. When I got into the car stuff from my console was laying in my front seat. My GPS and Radar detector were both gone! I am so sad. Mr P bought me the GPS for my birthday. I am also mad at myself for not following my gut a little more and watch him leave. My brain and I have went over it several time and for the life of me I cannot remember what kinda car it was. I believe it was a 1998 Camry. Green. But I can't not say with 100% certainty. I am so sad. I can't sleep. I am afraid. This guy knows where I live. All he has to do is hit HOME on my GPS. Anyway, just wanted to share V

Get a shop dog or a gun. No way would I be in the shop alone without either one Worse things could of happened and thankfully your ok, don't let it impair who you are. Next time trust your gut and have an olfa in your pocket in case you need to cut his off

Dont worry that crackhead didnt even turn it on, he sold it for a crack rock fo sho. You really do need a security camera set-up for the customer area and the shop. And possibly some sort of an alarm system with a panic button behind the counter and in the office. Mr. P come on make sure you wife has some type of security while you are not there. Even if its a shotgun behind the counter....lol Seriously, it doesnt take much for a crazy m'fer to come in there guns blazin.

Get a gun a learn how to use it. There are too many predators who are looking for an opportunity to take advantage of. Trust your instincts in a scenario like that and get the hell out the door. Better to let them think your rude or nutty than be a victim.

I am getting my wife a stun gun, that might work for you or do like I do and carry a hammerless 38. You don't even have to take it out of your pocket. Take care and be careful

Given the events of the recent, and not so recent past, ya'll MIGHT want to consider a move to a more "savory" location.

If all you lost were a radar detector and GPS, those can be replaced considering the alternative.

Sorry to hear about what happened TTC. Always trust your gut and always keep your olfa on you. I also carry a smith and wesson air weight 38. However I dont really expect to use them. The people that are shady like that that come into my shop are usually intimidated by me.

this day and time... i hate to say it... but, you all know it... a conceal and carry permit and a nice little weapon of choice is a great idea. people are getting shot at home, school, work, etc. i'm in central Kentucky's bible belt, and there's a home invasion or murder in every newspaper everyday around here anymore. used to be unheard of here. don't be a victim. be a solution. none of these idiots killing mass people you hear about on the news have run into someone else packing. i'm gonna take my own advice and pick up a 38 or maybe a 9 to carry and get the permit this summer. i haven't because of my kids. but, responsibility on my part will prevent an accident. and, how can i protect them if a psycho comes along on a shooting spree in wal-mart? i will at least return fire. i'm not gonna let an idiot like that who can't score with a chick end my, or my family's life early without at least a fight. if you're in biz, and take and keep money or valuables around, you need a way to protect it. IMO

Learn from this. ALWAYS trust that "intuition". The best protection is your own awareness. (And I also suggest LOTS of weapons. ) Is there really any "safe" location these days? Anywhere? Glad it wasn't anything worse, but sorry to hear it rattled you. Having your personal space & security invaded is worse than what you lost.

A have my CCW permit, keep a Bersa .380 on me at all times. A Ruger P95 in my Expedition, and a Mossberg 12ga pump beside my bed. Like Ice Cube said I would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Sure, all of you hard asses with gun would have avoided the situation, right? Would have shot the guy in the head when he walked into your shop? PLEASE! Just because you carry a gun doesn't make you invincible. It just makes up for your feeling of insecurity. Conceal and carry if you visit unsavory communities, but why are you visiting unsavory communities? The bottom line is that you just learned that you need to take precautions to protect your business. EVERYONE should lock the doors on their cars, lock their cars when parked in their driveways, lock the doors to their houses and keep the lights on outside when sleeping. At any given time, anyone could become the victim of a crime. The bottom line is that you have to construct barriers to prevent easy crimes like you became a victim of. I, for one, don't want to carry a cumbersome gun around with me everywhere I go likely to pull it out during an event of road rage just to feel like a hard ass. I can protect myself and my family adequately and have done so for numerous years. Noone can prepare for the unpredictable or unexpected. Just be educated. Anyone can disable someone carrying a gun in a matter of seconds and kill them with their own weapon before their life flashes before their eyes. Just because you carry a gun doesn't mean that you will be able to pull it out when you need it. Take a look at all of the police officers that have been killed carrying a gun in plain view right by their side. food for thought. I don't have all of the answers, just base your decision on your cirumstances.

I don't have all of the answers, just base your decision on your cirumstances. All I am trying to say is that in my CCW class they taught me what my rights as an American citizen are. If you come into my shop, home, car, whatever and threated my life of my families life I WILL FVCK YOU UP. No I dont feel like a "hard ass" or making up for feelings of insecurity. I am protecting myself and excersicing my rights as an American while I still can. And on another note, I am trained in Tai Kwon Do and Ju Jitsu. Will I pull my weapon if not needed,no. My weapons are there as a last resort, but I would rather be caught with them than caught without.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
