E46 coupe and metallized film

Hi All,
Looking to tint an E46 coupe with film 35% all round (I dont want to look like a pimp if yer get me!!!) but am in a bit of a quandry about what to get....

a) metallized film = fantastic heat rejection and more light throughput for level of heat rejection.
b) dyed film = poor heat rejection for the light level.

I ask because I would really like to use the metallized but because the aerial is in the rear screen will it cause a problem with FM reception ?

I dont have inbuilt nav so wont be a problem with GPS.

I have tried to source ceramic film but there are no suppliers I can find in the UK for a reasonable price... so far been quoted 4* the price of the metallized stuff.

Looking at using the Opticool film.


Any suggestions anyone ? Just wondering if and why it would effect the FM reception as the film is behind the aerial.

Madico Charcool or Metal edge..best for framless roll ups...thick and can take a beating..check picks of the CL63 in the Benz makes and models forum. Cerm films look too mirrorish in the 35% areas.. From what I know the boys at CEC use this film on their tuner joints.

If there is no problem with it then I'm goin for it.

Had 13 HP Charcoal on my '04 325ci, '05 M3, and 18 HP True Grey on my '01 540i, no radio issues, also 22 HP Charcoal on my mother in law's '05 330i, all SolarGard, again, never had an issue.

you shouldn't have a problem with Fm reception with a metalized film only with AM.

with glass embedded antennas FM reception can sometimes be hurt while the defroster is being used.

Going to attempt to heat shrink the rear so I've got a full roll to play with.
Also managed to get a 2K digital heat gun for £25 thats $50 in your bling. I'll post some pics when its done and see if any of you guys'll give me a job
