I use drawer Liner (soft foam , wont slip off) and place it over the trunk lid.
So no worry about leaning over the trunk and scratching it with a blue jean button or whatever.
Cheap enough.Lowes has 5' rolls for $3.99

Cover My Lid
Just thought I'd share how I cover the trunk lid while shrinking bg.

If I'm wrong , then good tip ..I've been using a cheap blanket for years ..just pin it on each side of the trunk, then close it so it doesn't slide off onto the shop floor..+ you can lay tools on the blanket without worry of paint. I have 2 ..one for the trunk , one for the feet for inside new vehicles when loading in the bg

i like T*T.....i mean it......T*T too.....any way i got some of that it not T*T....well i got them too...not mine i just rent them......oh i use a old but clean towel to lay over the trunks.....but that looks slick...especially for the roof....
