DENISCARS
has anyone had trouble doing rear windows of this model after shrinking i'll make small cuts along the corners about 2-3 inches on the sides down to maybe 5 inches toward the taillight. so when i'm squeegying the film the fingers i've made act like anchors seems to work for me every time. just .02 cents worth

WHAT????
Mdog
i have heard of relief cuts along the defroster lines, not just out in the open though sweat.gif
Sprinter
no cuts here just leave the outside edges hang for a little while then squegee and use alittle heat, works better with a blue max more pressure on the tint down there.

sorry, i have no idea what this guy is talking about. i've never had a problem with them.
TintDude
are you talking about this POS?

i hate these things

one of the main reasons fordsuck.gif
DENISCARS
yup i'm yackin' about that POS the finger cuts i talking about are when looking at the back glass from the outside. from the bottom corners work up about 3-4 inches making small slices maybe only 1/4" long spaced at 1" apart then on the bottom edge work the same way toward the middle for about 4-5" those small cuts will work like fingers to hold down the film. so then i wont need to make relief cuts on the defrosters hope that explains it better

You guys whine too much about tinting fords, did you ever stop and think maybe it's not the car but the tinter. hmmmmmmm.gif

I just did a 96 Thunder Chicken today, I have my helper pre heat the outside bottom corners when I squeegee, no probs with them popping back up evileye.gif

I understand what you are saying DENISCARS. I do the same thing sewing when putting in a sleeve on a shirt on the curved part. Just helps it straighten out as I sew and make that curve better.

The cuts are only a 1/4 inch long and on the bottom edge where it is going to be hidden in the black frit anyway. Cut them right where the curve will be on the glass...And yes it does help. thumb.gif But they are still a pain.

I don't have a helper any more to heat outside while I am inside the vehicle.

whisper.gif That's why my heatgun cord has burns in it. I heat...drop it ...and then bust my butt to get back in the car's back seat before it's set. Flaugh.gif

I cut mine off today, right at the gun and put a new plug on it. Saw someone here suggest that thumb.gif

if one or two tinters complained about fords, then blueovalisshit would be right. but since i have yet to meet a tinter that likes tinting them, then i would say it's ford that's the problem.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
