Does anyone here have a lot of experience with the 3M films CS range BS range and FX range, any feed back and thought would be great.

I hate shrinking the CS. However, I do use it as an upsell film. Most people don't want to pay the outrageous amount I charge for it.

The Tint FX-HP I use a lot of. It works really nice. Color is a bit green. It's held up in MN for nearly three years (I installed it on a work truck at my day job).

The black chrome is an awesome looking film.

FX is poop.gif . Curls up like a mofo and has a bronze hue to it. I don't touch it anymore!

I like fx-hp, if you were using fx-st then what do you expect dunno.gif The cs looks awesome but as dan said it's a pain to work with, it gets a little easier to shrink once you get used to it but we mainly use fx-hp.

we only use the CS. it is difficult to shrink at the beginning, but if you hang in there it gets easy. however it cant do crazy hard backglasses. ive done one bug in it in 1 piece and it came back cuz it looked hazy from being shrunk too much. ive never done a new vette with it because of this.

Thanks Guys great responces im very interested VIP if you have pinching or preassure marks with you cs film I use a lot of it on Hondas and noticing a mark along the top of the glass do you get simular problems there?
darkdan
I have....on every car I've used it on.

3M has reformulated the glue to solve that problem. we got the new rolls in last week. you know how it goes when they reformulate the film. it could either be better or WORSE.

we havent used the new rolls yet though.

I've been having a few issues with the cs. I've been seeing a few blotchy spots where it looks like there is glue that clumped up months after the install. Also i've seen some hazyness from shrinking. I pretty much only dry shrink, and wouldn't say that the film has been overshrunk (it was a new G8). These are not problems i want to have with the price that I pay for this tint. mad3.gif I've been considering either sunteck carbon, or global fusion or nr to see how they are. If any brand is not color stable i don't even want a sample roll of it. forget it.

I have....on every car I've used it on.

Subarus. 350z.. Altimas etc....Same here and just as I was perfecting the shrink.. I had to hold off up selling untill the problem is resolved. The good news was never had a peel up in over 3000 sg ft of installs in 12 months. thumb.gif

I USE ALL THREE FILMS THE COLOR STABLE FILM HAD PROBLEMS WITH SHRINKING WET I USE SNUGGLES FABRIC SOFTNER WORKS GREAT AND DOES NOT GHOST. THE COLOR STABLE IS VERY EXPENSIVE IN THE STATE OF THE ECONEMY. THE FX IF YOU DO USE IT STAY AWAY FROM THE 20% WAY TO LIGHT LOOKS LIKE 35% USE THE 15% IT IS A BROWN COLOR. THE BLACK CHROME IS OK??? THE ONLY THING THAT I THINK 3M SHOULD RETHINK IS THE COLORSTABLE FILM HAS WATER MARKS BEEN SELLING COLORSTABLE FOR YEARS NOW. WELL WHEN YOU USE FX OR BLACK CHROME CUSTOMERS QUESTION THE FX AND BLACK CHROME BECAUSE THERE IS NO WATER MARKS AND HAVE HAD CUSTOMERS COMPLAIN SEVERAL TIMES. MMM COLORSTABE HAVE HAD NO FADING OR CHANGE SINCE 1998 THE ONLY THING WAS THE ORIGNAL FILM WHERE THE WINDOW ROLLED UP YOU COULD SEE A LINE WHERE THE GLUE BUNCH UPPED HAS BEEN FIXED THEY SAY NOW. HOPE THAT HELPS DAVE

This reply isn't meant to be a smackdown or anything, but...

I don't use 3M ever since the Panther days. The quality of that film was very low but priced at a premium. I only mention this because they say the same stuff about their current films and propaganda isn't convincing for me anymore. The reports of other people who use the product are what I'm interested in and I haven't read much good on here about it.

I also have serious questions about the pricing/warranty of the product line. Why is it that the FX standard film with a 3 year warranty costs as much as other brands that have a "lifetime" warranty? I realize that the "lifetime" warranty is a marketing ploy, but if the film is only good enough to warrant for 3 years, why isn't it cheaper? dunno.gif

Not to be a jerk, I just think 3M's way of doing stuff is strange...

i wish i could help with answers but most i dont know cuz ive only seen my rep once. as far as the film, we havent had any issues, and we sell a lot of it. its an easy upsell with the 3m name. plus when you look at the TSERs, they are pretty good. we compare it to our ATX and most go with the 3m, you get all the same benefits. i wish the customers would go more ATX cuz its a llumar film and have more trust with it, but i understand why they dont. our first test vehicle is one of our own, and its held up great for almost 5 years in the so cal desert.

but i always remember that pic i saw of a bubbled up back glass with the 3m logos still on it. and the CS line, which we use, only has the logos.

oh waqit we did have a roll of 5% that had a dark line all the way across it. ended up redoing the doors of 2 cars.

I do agree on the fx film and I do not use the chep fx there are two lines of fx the colorstable is 90 percent of what we use too. I have NEVER had any issues I di not have with other films such as dark spots or lines the film has been Iwould say excellent other than the price way to expensive you see it all over dealerships lowering there prices fast food ect.. I ask the rep and he said he did not think willoffer any incentives or discounts on the colorstable like they did the fx black chrome and crystline. Have a happy tint day Dave

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
