Tried Johnson several years ago, couldn't shrink that stuff (HP that is) but at the same time this was over 5 years ago, hopefully they had changed some things. Tried the Global stuff, did great.

I guess personal preference. Also, if who ever is closer, think about the fuel savings. beer.gif

How does it hold up in the Florida heat?

Does it turn purple?

Have you had any redos?

Where in Florida are you? I am in Polk County

How long does johnson hold up against fade and glue separation? I know it has a warranty, but seriously.

qdp user here & I love it, best looking film i've ever used imo, why the change dunno.gif & what global film do you use

I use a lot of Johnson Vision Plus film.

I've only been using it about 3 years, so I don't really know how long it lasts, but the reason I don't use Greystone is because for me it's TOO thick, and it's got a minty green color I don't like.

I've never used a better shrinking film than Johnson.

As a consumer and not a tint pro, I had my car tinted about 3 and a half years ago, by a board member, and he used Johnson Tint. The tint job still looks spectacular. I would highly recommend Johnson Tint.

I have wiffle waffled between both companies for some time now, and have finally settled on Global (QDP + HP). I used Johnsons Silhouette, Rayguard, and Greystone, and while I liked the product (especially the price eyebrows.gif ) I have found that for the extra few cents per linear foot, the Global is just a better looking film.

More of a natural color (Johnson Silhouette is kinda bluish, Greystone is kinda greenish, Rayguard looks fantastic but Jesus its thin) and the optical clarity of Global is superb. The QDP is like cardboard compared to the Rayguard, and the HP has almost no shine compared to the Silhouette line.

Some one stated before if you take all the shades of Silhouette out and lay them on a table, they look like they are from different lines. Johnson has held up well here in Central Kentucky, and they have been good to me, but I kinda dont like the fact that anyone off the street can purchase their film.

These are just my opinions, and just like A-holes, everyone hase one and most of them stink (some of them are looser than others evilgrin.gif ). Get some samples and try out the different lines to see what you like best and what works with your preferred shrinking method. Just dont try to wet shrink Rayguard, you might as well just throw it in the trash and save yourself some frustration.

Hope this helps. twocents.gif

greystone all the way and i never noticed any minty green tinge to it evilgrin.gif

Hers's my Johnson horror story. Used Johnson commercial films ever since SG closed down Columbus office (2002?). Bought thousands worth of film. In October 2007, had problem with bad film on small residential job ($550.00). Replaced it immediately as it was obvious bad film. Took pictures and submitted warrenty claim with pics of bad film. I had never submitted claim before, and was told by Joe from Johnson that he was going out on the limb for me because I did it wrong. Said I needed to get it approved first, and I had to submit new paperwork with a later re-do date on it. I said no, I had to take care of the customer first, if you wouldn't back the film I would just go elsewhere. I wasn't jumping thru hoops. I had saved all the bad film. So for basically the cost of two 60" rolls of film, Johnson dumped a customer that would have bought over 20K of film this year. Because Johnson doesn't make 72 inchers, I also used Madico. I am now all Madico.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
