It is IG and wired on the outer pane.
I was thinking about exterior film (REX 20)
Any suggestions?
Could it be done , and than not brake right away?

All manufacturers say no solar control film on wired glass
Not recommended. No one will warranty it.

No one will warranty it. warranty is not an issue here they are aware of the possible brakeing of the glass (LEO'n'DARTZ @ Apr 21 2008, 07:12 PM) [*]615179[/*] (solar protect @ Apr 21 2008, 03:23 AM) [*]615111[/*] I have a situation here. Heatguns??? Don't understand what that has to do with it.
If your customer knows the potential for problems and is willing to go ahead then it sounds OK to me.
According to my LLumar F2G chart, wired glass has approved films of UV Clear, UV Shield, REX20 and RK20.
whats wired glass?
The glass that has wires in it (usually a honeycomb or square pattern).
i've tinted a ton in basically every flat glass film out there and never had a single problem.
i dont think i have ever seen such a thing.
done several single pane windows with silver film
If the outer pane is the one with wire glass the film will not stress it as much anyway. That is a new one though, Never seen a dual pane wire glass unit I'll bet that puppy cost a buck or three
I think wired glass is cheap compared to the alternative for meeting the code. I think it's used for "fire glass".

You had better charge a high price to help cover your azz if it happens
We tinted some many years ago. Had extensive glass breakage. The issue comes when the glass heats from the film, the wires expand much differently than the glass, causing stress issues. Without film, these window suffer from heat issues due to absorbtion, but when film is applied, it increases exponentially. My advice is to not film them. You may be in the middle of the install and panes will begin to break. If you are going to with this, explain it to the customer repeatedly and in writing. No glass warranty and the possibility of breakage is great. Cover yourself, depending on how many windows, this could break you if they come after you.
(thatsnappyguy @ Apr 21 2008, 04:37 PM) [*]615253[/*] i dont think i have ever seen such a thing. its common in schools... or at least schools around here. (darkdan @ Apr 21 2008, 03:45 PM) [*]615273[/*] I think wired glass is cheap compared to the alternative for meeting the code. I think it's used for "fire glass". Right ! Installed about 24 dualpanes ( wired glass outside ) which are used for emergency fire-exits with Bekaert Sterling 20 on the inside. One snapped and it was probably because of shadow on half of the pane or, as usual Keep you posted Danny
my old schools had them i never understood them though

I've installed Solar Silver 20% and Solar Bronze 20% on wired glass without any issues. Go for it
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
