Full Version: heat gun sweating for bg removal
Hi everyone! This has probably been mentioned before since everyone here is a jedi tinter
Hot Tip for Cool Days Man
Sounds good but I just use my heat lamp to sweat it on a cold or cloudy day
Same idea only quicker, I use a 45,oooBTU Colman propane heater ..when done carfully and heating the bg evenly, you can blister it off in 5 minutes tops when used with bagging
Thats awesome guys. Ive thought about using stronger heating elements but even now i am paranoid about using such items as they may be too strong. My biggest concern when it comes to tinting is that I dont want to ruin or blemish anyones car in any way whether it be heating, cutting of seals, or anything like that. I'm always looking to save time on removals though so i'll definitely look into a stronger heating element and use extreme care when handling it

I've done quite a few with great success and no damage to cars with great savings of time..but you REALLT vwant to know your heating element and keep the glass evenly heated..you can actually see the tint bubble and the garbage bag start to melt. The best advantage of this method is I've done it on the worst possible tint where its so far gone and the tint wants to separate into layers and come off in many little peices, it wont happen when "burning" it off (Tintskillz @ May 10 2008, 07:42 AM) [*]618982[/*] Hi everyone! This has probably been mentioned before since everyone here is a jedi tinter or you could just buy a steamer. rain shine snow tint comes right off most of the time removing glue as well.plus theres no sweet waiting time
i have a jiffy steamer and i like it but to me it is slower going with the steamer and with severely blistered film it still comes off in layers and very small pieces.
(tint_audiopros @ May 12 2008, 12:14 AM) [*]619268[/*] might be your steamer??? since I bought mine I dont have any troubble with the blister up film.. I do have have a commercial steamer that might be the diffrance
Steamer, your not taking your time. I start at a top corner and work slowly pulling the tint down. It beats going in and out of the car.
heat gun works great , using this method for years. faster than sweating and less mess, but caution with laminate glass like windsheilds, safety side glass, and some imports like infinity, mecedes have rear laminate safety glass, it will break under extreme heat conditions. also lets dont leave out the cheap window trim that will melt with just a flash of a heatgun. works good, but be very carefull.
Okay theres alot of talking of tint removal and its so confusing
1. 2. 3. etc.
Nevermind i got it. I guess i read over a step.
