Full Version: tint Bubbles

i just got 3M color-stable tint yesterday on a 2002 toyota tundra and noticed a bubble on one of the back windows...they said "there will be bubbles in the tint for approx. 2 weeks"

i was just wondering, given the size of this bubble, will it go away?

i put a nickel next to the bubble for size comparison

should go away.... thumb.gif I'd give it the 2 weeks if it's not gone by then, take it back to the shop and ask them to re-do it.

That looks like a bubble that won't dry out without having some air in it. You should send that picture to the place that tinted it and let them see it or just go back and have them check it. Those bubbles should be squeegeed out before ever leaving the shop.

Is the bubble filled with liquid or air? It looks more like an air bubble to me, especially since it is not symmetrically round. Either way a 3M installer should take care of it for you without hassle

its air in it as far as i know.. looks like it to me...

I didnt really want to say without a reply but it looks like air to me as well. When a tinter refers to bubbles that will disappear after a few days he is referring to pockets of liquid that form as the film dries. They look like bubbles but they are liquid filled and usually evaporate within a day or two. If your bubble is air filled, it will not go away no matter how much it cures. As i mentioned before however, a 3M installer should fix it for you without hassle. thumb.gif

Edit: Another reason I feel it is an air bubble is when looking at the film there are no other "bubbles" which would have formed if it was in fact a curing issue. They usually dont happen solo but rather in a swarm.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
