hey everyone, i'm very new to tinting, but i want to learn a LOT more. i know many professionals use big glass doors to lay their tint on while trimming it, when i did my dads truck i used a glass table top, but once i was finished i had to put it back on the table. lol.
anyway, i can probably buy a glass door, but i heard there really heavy and i haven't found one cheaply yet. so i was wondering if there is anything else i can use to trim the tint on istead of a glass door .. would plexiglass work?

plexi works okay, obviously not as well as glass. you could keep your eyes open for someone remodeling and ripping out old sliders. could probably score some for free.

I went to a glass shop and asked if they had any old glass they were looking to get rid of. They had 2- 5.5'x5.5' thermal's that they had just taken out of a building because of condensation. The condensation didnt bother me! Didn't cost me a dime.
Try a used building material place.... look for a clean shower door... They are plentiful around here... 10-15ea.

Yeah, I just called up the local glass shop and asked if they had any large tempered pieces laying around.

i got myself 2 double glazed units 2m highx1.5m wide have them standing on either side of the garage, couldnt ask for better i used to use plexi but odd bit of contamination with it

so is glass always better for less contamination?? my main reason for going plexi would be because it would weigh less, but i dont even thing the glass weighing a lot would be that big a deal.
what should be like the minimum size glass i should use?

the plexiboard gets deep cuts in it from trimming patterns and they can hold debris, the smallest glass you could use depebds on your biggest back windshield,1.5mx1.5m should be plenty

For mobile jobs I bought a easel at an office supply store for $25 that folds up to about 10" and use a piece of plexi big enough for large side windows (like Ford pickups). I peel off the glass for the back window.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
