Setting up a new shop and would like to buy some rolls of different % film.
Which size rolls do you guys go through the fastest?
I'm assuming there's 1 size roll that fit most applications. (?)

i use 40 on the rear, save the extra for a visor
i split 40 down the middle for the roll ups.
60
When I first started out I carried only 40".
Now I carry 36/24/20 in the film I use most. QUOTE (darkdan @ Jul 9 2008, 07:41 AM) [*]628844[/*] When I first started out I carried only 40". Now I carry 36/24/20 in the film I use most. same here i carry 20/24/36 and lots of color tint!!
60
Wheres the60 inthat poll
Really? That many of you choose 60"?
Are you purchasing 60" because it's more economical and cutting the roll down, or because it fits more applications? I'll add it..
The few times I ordered a 60" (with no other film in that size) I'd get a lot of waste. Rear window on a car would be 32". Now I'm left over with a 28" piece. Do I save it till I find a rear window to use it on? Do I use it on a side window or two? Do I split it down the middle for quarter windows?
36 inch rolls cover about 90% of the cars I tint. Then I use a 20 inch roll for the sides. In the event that a truck with over sized windows comes in, I just use the 36 length wise. The 40 inch roll creates too much waste for me on the back and I hate having 25 top strip pieces laying around.
Darkdan....Have your 60" roll cur 33/27. It will do 95% of all back windows with very minimal waste. I have also found that a 36" roll on my plotter leaves almost no waste as well. You will be amazed at how much your bottom line will improve if you don't throw away good pieces of film.....just my .02.
All Automotive I cut on the plotter 40" rolls.
Most Residential/Commercial I order 60"
we go through about 4 20" boxes of atr 15% every week
I keep 40" for everything in stock and keep 20" for my 50% and 35% since i do the most roll ups with that. and i AM being serious.
40 mostly but some 20 easier to handle sides with out cuttin in half.

Mostly 36, cut in 18's for sides. Keep 24" just for trucks

I carry 40", 30" and 20" rolls. I found that 30" will get most car back windows. So now I only buy 50 ft rolls of 40" just to have for the cars that 30" doesn't cover. For 5%, 15% and 20% I've ordered 60"ers and had them cut down to 30"/20"/10" so I had some little rolls for visors.
40/24/20 - mostly 40 though
Size does'nt matter!!! That's what all the girls have told you for years, right Connman????
The SIZE of your wallet DOES matter!!!!
At first used only 60 and 20 inch roll, back when it was about 60 cents a sqft. Now 20,24,30(have manny split 60 usually do it free of charge)36 and 40.30 and 36 get used the most.Nice having 30 cause alot of door glass seem to be under 15".(300c,Lexus IS rear doors,08-09 Corolla/Matrix)
40", i havent touched a 20" roll in years.
60's cut down 38" / 22" covers most all. "This should be a tip." If you say Ya, but what about F350 man. look again. "This is a real film saver."
40 i think will win by a landslide...thats why Llumar doesnt sell 40 no more

60 is great for residential . we only buy 40 for cars and there is sooo much waste...gonna talk to boss about 36
Yup get yourself a 60 as well, and have the manufacturer split it 38/22 for use on every rear window and everyside window.
I didn't do the poll because I am all flat glass and 60" roll is still king over here, second is 48 then 71" when I have too
I used to get 40''.
Now I'm getting 36''. Less film wasted for me.
20" fits most car side windows, 24" for the large truck side windows and some back glasses, and 36" for back glasses. found this to work out well for us. Huper on the other hand I get 72" cut to 18", 18", and 36".
You guys forgot about the 30" rolls. I use this on most of my back windows.
If I had to only buy 1 size, I would buy 36" rolls as this can be used on 99+% of the cars out there. You can use that on the back glass, cut it in half for the side doors but if the doors are larger than 18", then you can run it across as hardly any rollups are wider than 36".
As i see vote results - mainly autotinters here
flat glass im using 60"/48"/36" a little bit of 72". auto 60" and 36"
Auto - I use 20/24/60
Comm - I use mostly 72
24" and 40" for us
40 auto
72 and 60 flat
36 24 and 20 seem to work out the best

We've done some auto with "slit down" 60"s to 31/29" that gets most rears these days. Also kept 40s or 36s for big rear windows and 20" or under for sides.
After years of only using 60" rolls and an occasional 72", when gas went up so high, I started doing flat Glass out of my 4 cylinder car and found that 36" and 48" rolls handle many jobs quite well.
Mostly 40"
40
I use 40 99.9 percent for car seems like 50 60 72 for residential and now the supplier wants to sell us 30 inch rolls for cars. That seems goofy. Well would like your thoughts

36" inches of pure tinting goodness!
I have to jump in here and congratulate Mr. Boomer. Bravo !!!!
I can't take credit for this (I wish I could). This is one of hundreds of things I learned from my customers along the way. Some of our smartest and most sophisticated dealers started ordering 60" cut 38/22 about 18 months ago. So I asked them what it was all about. What I learned was profound. These guys were putting 10%-15% more film on the glass and 10%-15% less film in the dumpster by ordering their film that way. We created an information sheet to illustrate it. http://www.filmnow.com/MACRO_FILES/origina...ELL%20SHEET.pdf Note: Express Window Films does not charge for custom cutting. Howard Express Window Films yea, when I saw that 38/22 that did look like a good idea... and the 19/19 as needed
I buy 60's and have them cut at 40/20, and 24/36.
