Full Version: Wallpaper paste for dot matrix
just wanted to share this with everyone. not sure if anyone has posted this. we have been working with different ways to glue the matrix. after 4-5 years it looks like wallpaper paste has come out on top. how to use it mix in resealable container, clean window, take a 1 inch foam brush and paint the matrix and then install your bg. we have used several different types of the paste and they all work excellent.
That's nice but what will happen to the wallpaper glue in the long run w the sun baking the crap out of it?

Does it just make the tint stick, or dose it hide the dots too?

velcro (or hook n loop as its known) may work
why the fascination with glueing matrix down??? beats me QUOTE (walestint @ Jul 28 2008, 01:29 PM) [*]631811[/*] velcro (or hook n loop as its known) may work why the fascination with glueing matrix down??? beats me its called trying to do top notch work. try it once
Would love to see a pic of that. Just getting back into tinting after a 5 year stint into other things. The dot matrix has given me bad dreams for years - even when I was away from tinting!
We have been laying vinyl on the outside to cover the dots for years...Great tip, cant wait to try it! Will let u know...Thanks
I will try this, I have also tried tons of different adhesives. I found that on Nissan's and Honda's, the only thing that has really worked, was Silicone. Yep a thin layer of clear silicone works very well. Just a mess, the same way I think wallpaper paste would be. I have a Honda and I will go through the pain of using the silicone. Before I started tinting, I was hanging wallpaper and that paste is a mess, I really like tinting, I hate goo. So does anyone have any other ideas, that have worked without mess and goo.
Thanks
It just takes a very small amount. We have done it in Florida for years, and if it holds up here, it will hold up anywhere.

Used the paste on some cars it worked out good. I had a couple of comebacks with white sh!t where the paste didn't dry clear. I think the trick is to get a thin uniform layer. but then too thin and it won't stick. I'm going to start using vinyl on the tough ones, like the new 3 series, and 90s mustangs, sentra....
Snappy how did that spray glue work?
Do u install the film imiddiatly after gluing matrix or leave it dryes first?
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
