Wow... I blew the chance of a huge job...

Did a job the other day... and their neighbor wanted an est. Well, I didn't know and I didn't have any of my packets with me or anything. So I go over... it's basically the whole home in ceramic film. With the lower windows also having S&S film installed.

Long story short... I'll be very surprised if I get it. I gotta go back to finish up the one job on Monday.. so I'll stop in and see if the neighbor has any questions or whatever... but I really, really wasn't prepared and bottom line I just didn't sell the job.

My prices were higher... which I'm actually surprised about... but I didn't give them enough of a reason for my prices to be higher and having confidence in using me and the film I use.

I am kicking myself big time.... I remember reading either a blog or a post here (or maybe one of my sales books) about how after talking with a client, even though your prices are higher, in the end they understand why and agree to paying the higher price.

I'm not sure if I should go back on Monday and try again, or what..... I'll tell you this - I won't make that mistake again. :(

It really does....I work really hard to be a "class act" and sometimes I fail at it too. I have started to ask my installer to carry additional paperwork in our vehicles, and I carry a tote bag that has a lot of additional paperwork so that I can do my job to sell the film, but sometimes we all fumble. Today I forgot testimonials at a job I was working to sell tantrum.gif Oh well...I still think I sold that job....HO C40 vs. Old SG solar 35 from a local competitor...on a stucco home. I still kicked butt on the sales presentation...but hey it does happen to the best of us.

I highly suggest that you do make another opportunity to contact them. You don't know what they think of you until you ASK! Sure, first impressions are lasting ones, but their neighbor used you, and I'm sure you did a fine job. Contact them again, and continue to make every attempt to provide them the information they need to make an informed decision. Ask them if they would like the documentation you didn't have when you were originally there. Make a second trip, do whatever, but you really don't know you lost this sale...you might just have to try again. Good luck thumb.gif

That's true... it's just the other company they got a bid from either was very misleading, or left out a lot of information, and while I countered some of it, much I didn't cause I didn't have what I needed to backup what I was saying.

But since I only left the film samples, I'll definitely, at the very least, drop off an info packet on Monday.

Heh.. at the very least it will make me never be in that spot again. (If I can at all help it)

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
