Anti-graffiti film different then S&S?

Two part question... is AG film different then S&S film?

Have a store front that had their AG film scratched all up and needs it replaced... I know MMM has an AG film.... I'd guess others would too, but I haven't looked yet. I guess if it came down to it I could find some MMM, but hopefully the companies I use now have an AG film...

If S&S film can be used as AG, which thickness would I need??? I seem to recall MMM's being about 4 mil thick?????

Thanks!

AG is a lot easier to R&R. If what you are putting it on is prone to graffiti and you expect to get called back to remove and replace often, then you will be glad you used anti-graffiti instead of security film. twocents.gif

Now I just gotta figure out how to price it.......

Taggers probably wouldn't get thru 4 mil to damage the glass but I think 6 mil is the standard for AG. From what I have been told, AG is just S&S with a less aggressive adhesive. Not sure about that though. Like TintDude said, use S&S only if you don't plan on going back for R&R. You sure existing film is AG? You might find out what removing S&S is like sooner than you think!

Yeah I'm like 90% sure it's AG film that is already up there.... and they did a poor job at putting it up. Bubbles all over the place on almost every panel.

Which, I know.... it's outside, but I've done my share of external applications, and while not a perfectly clean job, I know it's possible to do better.

the bubbbles are what ive been told is champaging....they dont go away...i need to know what to do to keep them from happening....i have that problem on a job i did...i removed and replaced it...and the same thing.....i tried a different squeege and still same result....and the ag is way easier to remove.....

if you're going to be using S&S then make sure is an exterior S&S. AG is made for external application. otherwise that S&S isn't going to last very long. personally i'd stick with AG in this situation.

Suntek now has a 6mil AG film, i have a sample roll of it but never used it as their is no demand in my area for that stuff so i don't know how well it is to work with.

The job I ended up doing... despite being assured it was AG film, it turned out to be S&S film except fro two panes. It was a major PITA to remove.. the two panes that were AG film came off very cleanly and without too much effort... but the rest... ugh.

I've been meaning to go back over to see how it looks now that it's been a while, but I haven't been in that area.

You can break the glass removing S&S films use a reall graffitti film from a reputable co.

good luck

i never even came close to breaking the glass we do alot of it here in ny....the difference is the graffittii film removes easier but before that was around we used security film ...its alot of push power to do it right no limp wristing gay.gif

I got this roll from the minnasota folks once, this was around the first year they started marketing this stuff. They sent me a 7 mill roll of stuff which was very yellowish and later found out it was blast film originally sold in the UK only. It wasn't even a product that was in the advertised product lists so I really think they were offing it on me. We did a huge window in Queens, around the corner from Long Island hospital by that marine base exit. We had to pust harder then any film I had ever used before, and there were bubbles all over. We could not get these bubble out right after we put it up. The following week the guy wanted it removed (and I don't blame him it looked like hell). The peel strength was incredible. the glass looked like it was about to pop out of the frame. At this point we used our knives to cut 4" strips down the window then use a scraper to start the peel then pull to get it off, taking over an hour. I swore after that I would never again use a security film for anti graffiti or any graffiti film that uses the same glue as their security films. I also used a security film for some glass counter tops in a retail chain we used to get a lot of work from. The security films glue was so strong that it had pulled the glass out of the silicone holding it in place. After using a number of brands for anti graffiti I settle on either Hanita or madico, I do not have removal problems with them, and my opinoin is that security film is not made or intended to come off the glass, thats why it works so well in blast and security installations

PS I seem to always get the experimental junk, which is fine, but not if your paying for it.

In prising - for sure....

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
