Fines In NC

I have been able to find the Law for NC, but I have been unable to fine the Fine for breaking the law. anyone know or have found the fine amounts?

I was in Greensboro for 3 yrs. and never noticed fines,but they will not pass inspection if it's not leagal.Also I only did leagal work so none of my custy's had any problems...

Usually a fix it ticket, inspections are really tight now so it's really not worth trying to go darker than legal. Tint shops can get a big fine though as in they told us $5,000 fine but i think they were bullchitting us trying to scare us

The shop fine is the one I am looking for. Trying to confirm it.


We have been doing a lot of remove and retint legal the last few weeks, Lots of people not passing inspection.

I love both types of idiots that bring me those jobs. The hack phuckers that tint too dark and the dumbasses that get it done to their cars...

Plus we are a NC Inspection facility, so we get them all the time...

You guys have to get an inspection? And I thought Cali was strict

Yea, 96 and up have go through emissions testing, but 95 and older is safety only....and we have to charge 10 bux extra if you have aftermarket tint...

wow, is that when you first buy the car, or every year when you renew the tags?

You have to have an inspection sticker on the windshield and it has to be renewed every year and the tint has to be metered every year for 10 bux extra every year.

$10 to put a meter on your windows? I wish my meter paid for itself like that...

Noone here local knows about the $10 to meter so they never charge it.

I have heard that we will be moving away from stickers and will just have to have the inspection done before being able to get a Tag renewed each year.

A quick phone call to your county clerk of court and they will tell you what the fine is

You forget there are certain people like myself who have permits, my condition states that by the power of NC i am allowed to have tint not to exceed 5%. I was pulled over showed the trooper my permit and he left just like that not one word said.

Where and how were you able to obtain a permit? I would like to see if I could get one. I hate driving around without window tint, which I'm having to do right now. You don't realize how bad the sun gets to you until you start riding around without it. Had to strip my 20% off to pass my inspection. I had 12% on both my cars till i got pulled over, then I had them replaced with 20 and had no problems after that. Since NC has moved to remove the windshield inspection stickers I'm thinking bout tinting the whole windshield 35% and my front two 35%.

I bet everyone's going to want their ws tinted before long when the stickers are gone aren't they?

i would bet you start to hear more about people getting pulled over "for no reason" and the cop tell them didnt see a sticker. That wont last too long BUT now they can pull you over to "check your inspection papers" whether your doing something wrong or not.. i would say just stay on the safe side and keep it legal..

I agree, keep it legal and you don't have anything to worry about.

They will be able to tell if your inspection is out when they see your tags.
They will be renewed at the same time, once they are finished implementing this e-sticker deal...
