I know this is probably lame to most people here, but I sold my 2nd job today!! w00t!!! Not huge - like 200 sq/ft, but not bad. Now if my 3rd job actually books, I'll be almost where I set my goal for the month of Jan, which that in itself is very, very cool.

You know, this is the cool stuff we can share in. When I think about how nice this sort of topic is, and how much it represents the community as a whole, I can't help but think of that p.o.s. who cracked on TD and asked to close the forum. How can he complain about anything like this ? This is genuine !!

Thanks.. I appreacite it. I can't thank TD enough for this whole website. Aside from the fact that my previous boss told me nothing about anything, this place has been a wealth of information and support from fellow tinters all over. Which you can't beat - especially when you are a one man show... to everyone!!! RoAcH

Ihear you on the one man show thing. At times it seems furstruating, But after having down sized myself from owning a trucking outfit to this. I can say that the stress level is way nicer to deal with. Good job on moving forward to your goals.

The homeowner called me to book the job.. so hopefully I'll do that next week. (I have the dang flu :( ) She also wants to add another room, which if I remember right, has a fair amount of windows. Now I gotta call the 3rd customer and see if I can get her to book as well. Smaller job, but work is work. RoAcH

I'm glad your making some money and dont take this wrong but did I read it right htat you are thanking TD for a site that let you learn enough to go out and take jobs away from your old boss, maybe? I might be a little out of the ring here but would all the owners here be happy if I started telling someone all the things needed to compete in the market you are in? I have a funny feeling about the way this "new" business just started up, and not just 4 months ago some of the questions that were posed on this site would have sure let me believe the knowledge to go out and represent the flat glass in the utmost manner, now a few people will be competing with another flatglass guy that knows enough to give us all questions from hell from future clients. I guess I have just had a long day, and again it all goes back to some film rep that thinks it's cool to sell a few rolls of flat film to any Tom, Dick and Mary. I hope the little guys can make up for all the big guys they beat up just enough to create problems I just do not understand the business side of some of these reps whoring it out. Look at it like this. Even Heidi Fleiss was making big money off of the hizzo's, I did not ever hear one thing about her selling a few $20.00 blow-jobs. She had big clients who bought big packages, it's simple

QUOTE I'm glad your making some money and dont take this wrong but did I read it right htat you are thanking TD for a site that let you learn enough to go out and take jobs away from your old boss, maybe No, that would be incorrect. Err... mostly incorrect I guess. When working for my previous employer, we were pretty much told nothing except HOW to do it good enough to get the job done. I never knew have the things I know now ABOUT the films and better ways to complete installs. The business aspect of the industry I learned from my boss. I just have to do the opposite of him and I'll be set. You know, telling the truth, being honest with people, making sure everyone is happy, that kind of thing. I haven't even bid against any one he has given a bid to. I honestly hope I don't have to.... I'm working my business with a different slant then he does, and I really have no doubt I'll be able to make a go of it without having to compete for jobs... maybe here and there, but nothing big. And I have no hard feelings against him or anything... I actually find the whole things rather funny to be honest. So the things I've learned here have been more on the industry as a whole and the film products... not ways to get his customers. At the very least I see no reason to wake a sleeping giant. I'll just do my thing - he can do his, and we'll both be happy. RoAcH

now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
