Installed a kit in a kit

I just got this done yesterday. The engine isn't hooked up, but it's shiny green. Thankfully it is light and rolls easy (I rolled it over my foot last night).

This is a 23 T bucket roadster.....a rail job like the one that trounced the Cobra in Hollywood Knights. It's a kit car, that I believe is a Total Performance, Inc. kit. The interior kit is TPI. Ordered in a basic white with wide top stitched pleats. It comes with good instructions on installing the panels and the roll top.

The fun part of this one: My customer didn't assemble the kit. He got it after that was done. And wouldn't you know it??? The builder put the seat wood in about an inch and a half too far back. They added supports on the sides.

Sooooo, the side panels had to be recut and altered to fit around the supports and have carpet added to hide the gaping hole. The rear panel needed shortened about four inches because it wouldn't slide down behind far enough. The main carpet piece had to be cut new and lengthened because of that pesky one and a half inch gap.

Overall, though, the kit wasn't too bad. The roll around the top was just oodles of fun to fit. But at least now I know how they can be attached with little brainpower to figure it out. If I hadn't had to do the alterations, this kit could be put in in about 5-7 hours. Pulling the roll took the longest.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
