The carbon will not interfere with your am/fm radio, the HP will.

The HP might, i've still never had anyone complain nor have i noticed any interference with hp films. Suntek hp or carbon are both good films though.

I don't like it, I'd go with a more reputable company, IMO..... It's cheap and you get what you pay for....

Here's a few threads from 8th gen civic owners complaining about reception problems after getting their car tinted.

That's a pretty broad statement....
darkdan
Okay, "most likely will based on user reports of 8th gen civic owners and similarly constructed films." Nothing is definite.

ok so i had the suntek carbon series installed last nite
huge difference in the cars appearence
i like how it looks
except for the back glass
dont know if it was installed properly
i've got what looks like air bubble or jus simply moisture between the glass and the film
but i'm giving it a couple of days to completely dry
what do u all think ?
should i jus have it replaced or should i wait a couple of days
and how would i know for sure that i got the carbon series installed, even though thats what the guy told me he's installing

give it a good week to dry.

and you just have to trust your installer....how do you know you are getting real beef when you order a burger from burger king.?

Are you talking about the matrix at the top of the coupe's back window?

Or just a little bubble somewhere in the middle that gives a fish eye appearance? That's water and it will dry.
TINT
you should not give it a couple of days to dry. Its at least a week depending on the weather but still at least a week before you start making assumptions on the internet.
nwcvc
ok guys, thanks for all the feedback thus far...
have another issue now though...all the water bubbles have disappeared, but now i'm looking at my rear windscreen and i'm seeing alot of scratches on the outside of the glass...well i know its from the installer using a razor blade to "clean" the outside of the glass before laying the tint to cut it....is this a normal procedure ? using a razor blade to clean the outside of the glass and leaving alot of scratches on the outside hoping that the tint would disguise the scratches on the outside of the glass
what do u all think ???
from far the car looks good with the tint but i'm noticing all these fine mistakes or errors that i'm not so sure about...i guess thats what i get for paying $160 to do get my car tinted :(

Typically all we do is hit the back glass with glass cleaner and wipe w/ soft cloth to clean it.... dunno.gif

Scratches on the outside of glass are VERY common.... I'll bet they were there before you got it tinted... but didn't notice them because the glass was clear.... now that it is backed with film they stand out more.....

I have never seen a tinter scraped the OUTSIDE of a back glass just as routine..... Now if you had said the scratch was a continuous line that 'outlined' the back glass I would be pointing the finger... but more than likely the glass was already scratched.....

but its an 08 civic...i could understand a few scratches and i understand what your saying about scratches being visible after installing tint.....but i'm seeing ALOT of scratches throughout the entire outside of the rear windscreen...i believe it was caused by the installer "cleaning" the glass with a razor blade

IT ISNT IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE INSTALLER TO HAVE SCRATCHED YOUR GLASS BUT I DOUBTH IT ALSO. IF IT IS AN EXPERENCED SHOP HE DOESNT NEED TO RAZOR THE OUTSIDE OF THE GLASS AND THE BLADES SHOULD BE STAINLESS STEEL.

Honda glass sucks. End of story.
TINT
yea but still. whats a tinter doing razoring a back glass evileye.gif
TTS
..... Are you looking for a reason to complain to someone ??? dunno.gif

nwcvc
yes i saw the guy "clean" the outside of all the windows in my car with a razor...he used stainless steel blades to cut the tint on the glass which is fine...but he used a regular razor to clean the outside of all the windows !!!.....i'm only noticing all the scratches on the rear windscreen...i guess if he really was professional then he wouldnt have had to "scrape" the glass with a razor....there goes my 08 civic....
TTS
dunno.gif Sounds like you need to have a talk with the window tinter..... I have never heard of such a thing..... nor a reason for it.... dunno.gif

Best of luck!
nwcvc
not looking for someone to complain too....just trying to address some concerns that i'm having....
Limo Tint Larry
If its a used car chances are the scratches were there before hand. I've cleaned off sap with a razor on back windows with no issues ever in regards to scratches. He probably used the same process on every window on the inside to clean them (except the back glass) and I doubt there are numerous scratches on the inside of the windows.

nwcvc
not a used car !!!
brand new car....
never mind the scratches....its something i'm gonna hafta live with until my rear windscreen gets broken so i can have it replaced....
Shady Sherlock
Are they minor scratches or gauges that your fingernail can catch on?

I have seen Honda glass scratch very easily, but I have also seen minor scratches get buffed completely away.... twocents.gif
Shady Sherlock
I have also seen them get scratched from when the tinter soaps the glass to prepare for dry shrink and have a piece of dirt or grit in it... dunno.gif

just because is a new car does not mean its perfect. there have numerous times where i have inspected customers new cars where they have gone back to the dealership and come back with a replaced one, one being windows where scratched where they put the "price tag" or the "key holder" on the windows. but they're not visible until you install film, and who's to blame? the tinter of course! but is always wise to the let the customer know of the scratches before we install. now about the razor blade on the back window? i dont nkow about that but perhaps next time you should look beyond price when selecting a tint shop.
Monique
Honda glass is known to be the 'softest' of all makes, which makes it way too easy to scratch. I have 2 Honda dealers, so I do MANY Accords and Civics and have seen some new vehicles with scratches in the glass prior to my work. As for razor blading the OUTSIDE? Unless the back glass had copius amounts of paint overspray, my only answer is WHY?
VIP tint + glass
wait a second you saw him scrape the outside of your backglass with a razorblade, and now you notice scratches. honestly you should get a new backglass for that. i dont see any reason for him to do that, but maybe he did have reason. regardless, if he put those scratches there the shop should buy you some new glass.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
