Been in the yellow pages (att & sprint) for the last 10 years. It started out at nearly $1100 in the begining for both now its at the smallest a business card size and it still cost $650 . Been doing alot of internet advertising and thinking of cutting off yellow page ads. Just have my phone # listed. Has any one had any experience stopping using yellow pages and did you find a big drop in business ?

Form asking all my customers where they found my # most said on the internet. I find people over 50 still use the phone book . Its a hard decision especially with business being down with the crappy economy .

I havever e been in business for about 3 years now (Flatglass only) and have never spent a dime on yellow pages advertising. 80 percent of my customers state finding me on the internet and 20% by word of mouth.

I'm younger (25) and I cannot remember the last time I saw or used a phone book.. I'm in the target market for Auto tint, maybe not FG but still... I hop
on google, type the city and the product I want and BAM its a click away.

I spent like $8000 in phone book ads my first year and that got me on the map, then fazed it out slowly over the last 5 years. I now just run minimal ads in the phone books. Too many books and too costly. I got one book I advertise in and the other two main books I just put an in column ad. Internet ads are the way to go now.

We're downsizing YP as well. Too much $$$ for little return. Internet is where it at.

We dropped out of the yellow pages almost 8 years ago and never looked back. They came to us with 'special' pricing when we began not renewing and I aske them where the hell these prices were when we were using them. No response. The first time I thought of looking elsewhere for advertising was when I asked a corporate customer where they kept their phone books and he responded " I think they are in a closet at the end of the hall two floors down". That right there showed me that the traditional book was fading fast. We don't use it in our home and I don't know too many people who do.

"Goodbye Yellow Book Road" Online is the only search advertising we do now and it is working just fine!!!!!

with all the smart phones people have...no need for yellow pages. Hell, we even have a "Google 411" option on our home phone handset.

We got screwed on our placement this year in the YP. The phone book opened Window Tinting in the listing this year and never told us that it was available we are usually listed under Glass Coatings and Tinting. They told us that we were offered it and we turned it down , bullsh*t. We spent around $800 a month with them and planned on not renewing with them and not paying for the rest of year. F them!!! I've been in business for 7 years and my auto and flat glass is down by 30%. I blame the economy and the phone book. The 2 shops that were listed under Window Tinting has seen a down fall in business but there flat glass has been scheduled out for 2weeks. Not blaming anyone but speculating. tantrum.gif

Im a small startup business for PPF with no word of mouth. So we reviewed the marketing options for our product and found out how EXPENSIVE YP was. I said no way. For the amount of money on a credit card size adv. I can get a bunch of local cable TV advertising time. I know people still use the YP...but not me. Im googling and hit the net for anything I need and Im 40 years old...not a gen Y'r. I think the up and coming money making gen X'rs are net savvy and Im not worried about the YP ad. Maybe Ill add it later when Im more established.

I generate a ton of leads from yellow pages. Baby boomers and older still use them religiously and they have money to spend. I simply cannot stop using them, I run about 12-15 ads currently.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
