What is the suggested method of anchoring for 8 mil applied to entry doors. Its a gov't job so the requirement is 3/4" caulk but the frames are not deep enough for it. Thanks for the help.

You can only go as deep as the frame, so let the GC know before the g-ment hold your pay....get it in writing!!!

dont know what the gov spec is but I always take the glass out of the frame and lay film to just at the edge of the glass and then put some dow in the door frame and stick the glass in and then add some more dow to the inside of the glass and then put the caps back on. That is what I do for anti intrusion but a gov job is diff, see what they spec for it or what is needed to meet thier safty rating.

Don't just try and caulk the outside, the capping is not strong enough to hold the glass in.

This type of job involves protecting people, don't shortcut

They make a metal zbar that wraps around the frame for doors. It's stronger than the 995 method.

I'm not asking about a shortcut, I am asking for a possible alternative method for frame attachment that will meet DoD requirements.

Neverl8, this might be my alternative... Where might I get information on such a product?

Thanks!

There are no shortcuts

Contact your supplier and have them walk you through it

Thanks for your informative response tinitman. In case anyone else is looking for the appropriate solution, Pentagon makes one as well as Llumar Elite. I will post pics if I close the deal!

Cut the rubber on the longest edges away, run tape down the film (like the blue easy release) inside from the edge about 1/2" and down the door frame to keep that side clean, caulk it with 995 and strike it smooth and pull the tape so the edges look good and go get your check.

DOD has a 5-6 level scale for fragments hitting a 10X10 wall at some distance from the window. Your job spec will have that in it so its easy to google.

I just saw this so I am not sure if you found your zbar. It's usually available from your distributor. I think it comes out of canada. Z lok
