we make them wait at least a year, then they can start putting in doors, then a while then rolling in backs, then shrinking backs, then cutting doors. overall it may take 2-3 years

It would definatly take less time that it would have taken us to learn with all the available information , training tools and tips . Depends on the individual and your teaching skills..I'd say 1-2 yrs full time IMO

Depends on the individual and your teaching skills..I'd say 1-2 yrs full time IMO I'm with TW on that.First year doing roll ups and quarters and learning about shrinking, 2nd year learnig the art of shrinking. If they can't get it by then chances are they wont.It took me 3 years before I was confident enough to take on any car,but like TW said I didn't have all the tools and information that is available today....
some are quick learners and some never learn.

QUOTE (Beeline @ Oct 20 2008, 07:45 AM) [*]648847[/*] some are quick learners and some never learn. This so true...it depends on your learning curve as well as your commitment to learning how to perfect the art of tinting. Took me roughly 8 months of training and trial n error.....and lots of money on film!!!!!!
When I learned, I had a guy come from the distributor to teach me. The first time he came, he showed me how to do the doors. He came back a week later and showed me how to do the rear glass with baby powder. He spend a total of 3-4 hours with me, and said now you know.
It was a lot of trail and error, but I did finally get it down to where I could do any car. That took about 1.5-2 years...to truly know what I was doing. For those of you reading this thread, don't consider yourself good until you have 2 years under your belt going full time at it. And for those who want to learn, understand you CANNOT do it without learning to be extremely patient! <---spelling??
it took me about a year to actually start getting professional looking installs..of course i wouldnt have been able to do it that fast without the help of tintdude.com
i think if you work with an experienced tinter with an easy shrinkable film and computer cut tint you can learn in 6 months. You wont be able to do all cars but 90% of them . I had a girl learn to install and shrinkl in 4 months . I also had a guy a couple years ago still couldnt tint doors after 6 months .
Good shrinkable film? I guess I'm so good because I learned how to shrink using 8 mil safety
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. © 1999 - 2009 Ric Wellman All Rights Reserved. Contact: tintdude[a]gmail.com | |||
