Full Version: Dirty cars????

any one ever get cars from body shops or cars that have been sitting under trees that are filthy? do u wash them first? if so do u charge extra for cleaning. i usually get clean new cars at my shop but every once in a while one comes in that blows my mind. just curious what other people are doing when they come across this prob. right now i take the extra time and wash them for free. but i will not be doing that this winter. Does anyone inform custy's that cars need to be clean before arrival? Thanks for any feedback.

one time, ( IN JULY) I had to a cuatomer that left loaded baby diapers in the back deck. I told them I wouldn't work on the car till it was cleaned and lysoled.

dude. just this past saturday we had this lady bring her 05 grand prix to get tinted. this car was the nastiest car i have ever came across. i literally alomost vomited all over the car when i opened the door. the boss didnt know that it was bad like that when he booked it and it was a very slow day so we did end up doing it. the back seat was so nasty that i layed out a bed sheet over it, and from the sheet getting damp, the stains came through the bottom of the sheet from the nasty seat. there was half eatin plates of food under the front seats and there were flys hovering around the BABY'S SEAT!!! yea thats right, these ppl actually have a child that rids in such filth. if the boss would not have been there i would have loved to tell "these ppl" to get the f**k and NEVER come back. i unloaded a can of smell good. i also unloaded a whole spray bottle of simple green in the car so it could mask the smell cuz the smell good stuff wasnt working. i cant believe that some ppl actually live like that. u know they have to smell that nasty %&$# when they get into the car. not only do they not try to fix it or clean up, but they bring thier baby along in the the fly infested baby seat. ppl like that should just be sacrificed.

in no manner am i exagerating. i was a fireman for years and i have dealt with deap bodies that have been burned, bodies that have been sitting for a while, and just nastiness of medical calls.. when i opend the door to that car, i wished i was dealing with what i just talked about.

i also love it when ppl bring thier cars in and theres %&$# stacked to the roof.

i love it when the 4x4 trucks come in and it looks like they just got pulled out the river.

once i was doin rock chip repairs, and this van pulled up with the windshield completely covered in bird crap. the guy got all pissed off and left when i told him that he would have to go clean it first.

human sacrifices should be held for ppl who act like this lifestyle is ok

To the original question.... I say wash 'em up!
thumb.gif

Worse case.... the customer doesn't notice

Best case.... the customer notices, appreciates, and tells a friend about this great tint shop that went the extra mile !

Next to a home... A automobile is typically the 2nd largest purchase a consumer will make in his/her lifetime

hi all, yes we get that alot but just wash the area you going to be working on and leave the rest, or it is better that the car is generally clean or you can get blamed for a damage that you didnt do
filmslayer
I cut on the car,so by the time I clean what I need, some times it's better and faster to just wash it real quick, time is $$$$ twocents.gif
SIR TINTSALOT
if they are super dirty I tell the customer that it needs to be washed and since we are a tint shop and not a car wash I will spray it off with a hose to get all the gunk off, but that's it. No scrubbing and drying and all that good stuff. Most customers are fine with this, since they were in need of a car wash in the first place.
thatsnappyguy
sometimes if the car is really dusty, i ll rinse it with the water hose b4 pulling it in. im not going to wash anyone eles car.

I have a sign in my shop that says "The cleaner your car arrives, the cleaner the tint job will be."

I have run cars through the car wash and charged the client. A little extra charged of course. Once I had to leave a car outside with the windows down for three hours to air it out. I have found crazy things in cars. Some things you don't want to know about.

A Forester came into the Subie dealer for me to tint. I refused and the service manager was pissed til he looked inside. Hell, he didn't even have to look, you could smell it before you saw it. It looked like there were cats, LOTS of cats, living in the car. The rear cargo area had kitty litter spread and there were 'lumps'. The dealer called the custy to come get and clean it if he wanted it worked on!!

I found new born kittens in the back floor board of a car once.....I went up and asked the custy if he knew there were kittens in the back of his car. He didn't know it. The momma had climbed in the open window in the garage and put them in there.....then he had pulled out while she was out. Momma was a bit frantic as she was missing her babies......

They got reunited.......

That was probably the most pleasant thing I have found as a surprise....

my old boss when doing windscreens had to do a windscreen ina car that smelt like dead things , had used condoms in the door trim pocket things , had all kinds of food in the back probably what the smell was coming from but he jsut toughed it out and did the job whilst nearly spewing the whole time he was inside of the car.

and the kittens story thats crazy but good ending to it and the cat car , thats disguting , some people i swear are not human at all with the things they do.

I could not tahe picures from the outside the custumer was looking at me all the time, it vas actual mud on BG from inside + spiled oil and bonus chainsaw in thunk.

+ windows were like chrunchy chicken on the inside - man they have to be smoking alot inside for few years without cleaning.

I waned tell him to leave, but it was a psiho - later turned out that he escaped from the prison... he payed me extra bucks for cleaning so... I dont care.

btw: i usualy dont get cars lke that, maybe the trunk is full in a van or estate...

Thats nasty. Looks like that pup may of had some peanuts. You didnt clean it up did you?
tint51
What percent are they like this though??

Is it going to make or break you to refuse the car??

OCC
if its really bad i personaly will refuse it, just because it may bring more problems than worth in the future with customer not understaning why it came out like it did

Of course I cleaned it up.No I didn't point it out to the customer.I figure that if I didn't clean it up they might think I left it there, some how.The car was dropped off the night before for a R/R.We didn't see the poo till the next morning.
I-tinted-the-pyramids
Heck I would too. I have seen worse by far. I hate the trucks that have dead things in the bed. Bags of deer guts are the worse. barfing.gif

OK, the dog poop.gif on the back seat is awesome. I have tinted alot of glass. I mean crappy cars, very high end luxury, construction equipment but nothing ever like dog poop laying in the car.

Where exactly are all of you guys from? I have an excuse, I live in the south lol2.gif

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
