We have just celebrated the end of our 20th year in business, and looking forward to the next 20 or so. Looking back I have seen alot of changes in the business. From multi-piece rear windows to 1 piece everything. From "strict" laws to "not-so-strict". To get good heat rejection it had to be reflective, not so anymore. The market being flooded with companies who think if the film is pre-cut anyone can install it. OOPS!!! It used to take me personally 4 hours to tint a car, when I started this business. Now I have to take breaks to make it 1, on most cars. "Why would I need safety film for that once in a lifetime chance that a tornado might hit my house or business"? "We needed this film istalled yesterday"! I have trained 5 guys, and am currently traing 2, some of whom are very respected around here for there talents and work ethic. I have watched my sales increase every year from the year prior, and this year has been the biggest jump, passing last year at the end of September. All in all, things have been good. My how things have changed.
Quality installers are still very hard to come by and even harder to deal with on occassion. Auto dealerships still think window tint should be free since they give it away. Some do anyway. None of the ones that I deal with feel that way at least, THANK THE LORD! Rent hasn't stopped, EVER. Every film maufacturer has had or is going to have issues. Cost of doing business is just a flexible as it was 20 years ago. You just never seem to get the formula perfect. Wouldn't you think they would have developed a film that goes on dry by now? Shop still opens at 8 am and I still get here at least by 7am. Salesmen need their car done for free to thank them for all the business they sent you, LOL. He (or she) didn't even know your name until 5 minutes ago. "What is this spec in my window"? "So, the film goes on the outside"? "Why are you $____ higher than so-and-so"? My how things haven't changed.
Feel free to add to this list of changes or non-changes. I know I left alot of things out. I don't frequent Tintdude very often, due to lack of free time, but when I do I see many changes in the look of the site( VERY NICE by the way). I also see some of the same old posts from new people. How many different ways can you tell someone "IT WILL DRY" for instance.

I have been at this location for 16+ years and hoping to by my own building soon. I advertize in the phone book but have mainly relied on word of mouth. Thank you all for your congratullatory statements. They do not go unapprediated.

Hey me 2! 20 years last April. You gotta be proud! Remember back at year 2 when you felt you needed to embelish your experience? Now you don't need to! After 20 yrs. I hope we now can stop keeping track and let our record speek for itself.
See you in 20 more years and congrats!

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
