Hello All!!
I am auto&flat glass installer in Spain and I have a new FG job to start next week in a council building. Customer wants bronze 20% but I am worried about the big ones windows in teh photo. They are 75" X 75" and clear dual pane about 1/4 .
Building faces due southwest and here summer heat average is high 90´s. I have been looking for badly scratches or chipped edges and everything is in good conditions.
Do you think would be safe to install Bronze20% (33% solar absorption according JWF)??
Thanks
Tintskillz
JWF only makes 60" rolls so you will have to seam the film. I recommend calling JWF and asking if they will warranty the installation. twocents.gif

won't matter what film he uses it will all have to be seamed as they are over 72" both ways. Bronze 20 should not be any problem on those. If you have doubts then call JWF yourself and get approval....
TINT
bronze 20 absorbs more than 33% grinning_and_saying_no.gif

aare any of the panes tempered? if so then i say slang them papas amigo.

im not familiar with jwf, but id say, call them find out all you can.. then, explain to customer the possible problem, and tell them the manny coveres up to $500/per pane and tell him it's his responsibility to cover the rest thumb.gif I did a job recently that was 36 sq ft per pane and told him what was up... he was cool with it. get it in writing twocents.gif

its been a couple weeks since the job and iswung by today to check it out.. still lookin good! the chick at the desk loves it! i use madcow

Papita, I think you may find the absortion at 53% as from my charts, therefore maybe not a good idea.
Solscreen
Hanitas 20% Bronze has an absorbtion of 42% which may be possible without breakage.

Hi All!!
I´ll contact my JWF rep on monday and ask about warranty coverage. I will try to check if the glasses are tempered or not. thumb.gif
Yes , the biggst ones have to be seamed anyway, and as TINT says, JWF Bronze absorbs more than 33% but i do not think it absorbs as much as 53%.
Thanks dudes!

Find some 72" material. Seaming a 74" pane with 60" film is going to look worse than if you were to seam 72" film. twocents.gif

a 3 inch seem? man that would suck 3'' by 75''.

Hello dudes!
Unfortunately JWF not carry 72" rolls, so I must seam at 60" anyway, but if I flipping the seams to avoid differences of colours , seams are not noticiables. Normally I overlap the seams.

I have A JWF swatch with the data maybe its just an old one, some of the data above is the same as the swatch, but it does solar absorbtion 53%, sunset bronze is the product name, so maybe they have another bonze 20?
I dont use there films so cant vouch for them personaly.

Hi papaito,

Do you use there films for auto as well?, do they now have the homolagation? not sure if I have spelt that correct, my Spanish is not up to much.

Good luck with the tint, not an easy job by the look of it.
papito
Hi Solscreen!
Yes, I use Johnson films for auto as well. Mainly Greystone line, very nice film. JWF homologated their auto films about 2 years ago in Spain. Ninja-Invisible.gif

Hi Blimey, they must have dipped in there pockets, I dont do autos any more, lost interest, and patience, much prefer flat glass, hows it going down your neck of the woods? its slow here, but with some sunshine now maybe things will pick up.

I wouldn't risk these size windows for 2 reasons:

1-its definately laminated glass because of the hight of the glass
2-i thing there's going to be 1/2 shade on these windows because of the roof that is hanging over !!!

Then... you do not recommend install any film there?
If you are right and is lami glass, the laminated pane should be inside. I will try to contact the company that installed these windows.
Thanks

This is Spain we are talkng about, I would be very surprised if they are laminated, there has been thousands of propertys built in my part of Spain where I live, and very very few have toughened or laminated glass installed even though its European directive, in private propertys with glass patio doors all around the apartment or even multi million Euro villas. Nobody checks the glass. I have pointed this out on my website, but have very little feedback or work form pointing this out.

It maybe worth steering them towards a film with less absorbtion? or tell them the risk and leave it up to them. I think the shadow would be minimal with the over hang. twocents.gif

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
