Dj Kustoms
im not a completly new tinter but relitively new and i have done several cars window strips and not had to heat shrink to get fingures out...on my s10 i noticed bad fingures and f ed up alot of tint...any solutions??
Jerry250f
ttyo.gif Piece it!!! lol2.gif lol2.gif
nahhh

I had the same problem, When I first started I remember making a horizontal anchor and wet shrinking the crap out of it. Didn't know if it was right but it did look good when done. It shouldn't take more then a minute or two
lilDetails
if you had "fingers" on an S-10 then you did something WRONG.....you would have to stretch the film out and create fingers on those windows.

Look up heat shrinking on youtube or even on the main page here. Look and learn on all you can.
Dj Kustoms
i am just learning to shrink and shrinking is hard to get used to.i can get the fingures almost all the way out but then they pop back up...what do i do
lilDetails
sounds like you are shrinking the wrong side of the film. You have to shrink out to the FACTORY EDGE of the film. The side that runs the length of the film and is on the edge when you have it rolled on the core.
Dj Kustoms
i really dont understand what your telling me..i layed the film out on the window.....squeegeed out and it left huuge fingures...
TintJunkie
Damn, on an S10?? Are you using a slip solution (soap) when you aplly the film? After you lay the film, smooth it out a little with your hands to get the film to lay flat and then squegee. I would squegee the middle from top to bottom, then squegee the middle out so its a cross. Make sure you try to push outward on the film a little when you squegee outward. Then squegee the rest out going at an angle downward at the bottom, and angle upwards at the top.

I mean no offense by this but, if you are getting fingers in a truck back glass that you cant handle, you need way more practice. I would understand in a 02-up RAM, as they have a little curve to them, but you can heat the fingers from the inside after application if need be.
lilDetails
get some professional training....

if you are getting ANY fingers on an s-10 back glass then you are doing something WAY WRONG
Dj Kustoms
its not the back glass guys......the film wont lay flat on my WINDSHIELD......its curved and even when i heat gun it still fingures....so now tell me what im doing wrong

OK, shirnk it the best you can,and after you lay on the inside take your heat gun and heat the glass on the out side and push the fingers out.The heat will dry out the moister and the film will stick ... thumb.gif
TintJunkie
Do you plan on driving this vehicle?? Don't tint the winshield completely. Just do the strip. You won't be able to see out at night, and if you live in Houston, I don't want to be in front of you at night. It is highly !llegal and the cops will get you.

Are you trying to be an a$$? Telling him to heat the outside of his WINDSHIELD is just stupid and is very likely to cause it to crack.....

DO NOT heat the outside or inside of a windshield or you can crack the glass very easy.....

he should not be tinting the windshield, but you should not be telling him something that is deliberate and destructive. I could see him coming after you for the replacement of his windshield because you gave him the advice of heating it up!!! So, if you have something that is constructive to add go ahead....

I currently do not have any Precision Power equipment and have'nt cared for them since DEI buyout,I have however installed 12v secerity/audio for years before picking up a Olfa.Thrashing ,not so much. When I first started riding boards they still had ceramic wheels and I realy got into BMX racing.Howerver I do still try and thrash the face of waves when I get the chance and probably would like the DVD you mentioned.....

I had a Pro-Mos 425 amp for a few years then I changed out to an Art Series 600.1 and a 300. Loved that 425. It was so cool to be bumping along with 4 10 JL free air subs and a massive "50 watts" pushing them. The other half had my MB quarts separates in the doors.... No one around had anything like it then in 1995. Of course there were many systems before that one but that is probably my favorite one....

As for skateboards....I still have my first one and passed it on to my 2 year old son a few months ago. My wife has a bunch of pics on her myspace of him with it.... little orange plastic dynaflex board....about 32 years old.
http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?...albumId=2004638

I would take it you were handed down a board if you started with ceramic wheels..... The movie Thrashin' is just a classic skateboard movie from 1986... if you never saw it, and were into the skate "scene" back in that time, you should check it out. It is set around Venice Beach, but should still interest a Florida guy I think...

Anyway.....
filmslayer
You got to rember I'm 4-5 years older than you ,and my first board was a orange plastic one also , the ceramic wheels were probably cause thats all I could afford at the time ( I was 8-9 and were talking mid 70's ) .You are right about PPI back in the day the only other amps I liked was the Yamaha's (especially V12) and Quarts are off the chain if you can afford them ... beer.gif Being your in IL you probably have never tried surfing ? dunno.gif If you have'nt and are ever on vacation somewhere where you can I strongly recommed it , it is a blast and does not hurt so bad when you fall (I'm old) Flaugh.gif ....Oh yeah jacked.gif

I never had a beef with lil ,just 18 year old Jackazz's with less than 1year exp. trying to tell us (industry pro's) that it's ok to put 20% on his windshield. And if the dumbazz actually has 1 year exp. should already know you never heat the outside of laminated glass or it will break . I never would have posted info like that but when he called Rondy a D.Bag it just pissed me off(I can't remeber rondy ever being anything but helpful to noobs) and I'm getting tired of people helping these azzholes give this industry a blacker eye than we already have ... twocents.gif beer.gif
lilDetails
keeping with the hijack....I have never got to surf, would love to someday....my first board was when I was 5 and that would have been 1976.....

My Quarts were actually bought in a German stereo shop in Ramstein Germany while I was stationed there in the AF....I bought 2 - 6.5", 2 5.25", 2 sets tweeters, 2 crossovers all for like $250. They were display units that were "last years" and then I turned around and sold the 5.25's, pair of tweets and crossovers to a friend for $100......didn't need them...and the others were rocking for the next 5 years or so. I sold the car and the guy blew one of the 6.5's up somehow....

The laws vary from state to state but in Florida it's an improper equipment ticket for tinting your windshield! You can either remove it on the site or if they want they can tow your car! Some officers might let you leave and just give you a tint ticket but if you drive off and get in a serious car accident and kill someone your gonna be going to prison! People smoke crack but that doesn't mean it's right and you have to do it! The old dudes on here are trying to help you and give you good advice! It would be smart on your part to listen to them on this issue!
