Steam, Chipped Glass, and Cold Weather Don't Mix

I started an R&R the other evening, It was about 45-50 degrees outside so the windows were cold oviously. I got the steamer going and peeled the passenger side off clean. The driver side had a chip on the top edge, it was a clean break no cracks or sharp edges, just a small chunk of glass about the size of a dime. I tell the custy, he says "work with it, I ain't changing it". Aiight, so i start steaming it. About 5 seconds of steam spread around close to the top edge of the glass and CRASH!!. The whole window shattered into little bits held together by the old scratched up tint.
We split the cost of the window and re-tinted them. It was a small loss but a valuable lesson. No more working on chipped or broken windows.

i will tell the customer replace the glass and then i will tint it. did a windsheald years ago, had a 2" crack and told the customer i will not be responsible. they came back the folowing day, shoing the boss the crack and wanting him to replace the glass. me over hearing them in the front office. using my cell phone, calling the boss on the office phone explaining the problem, telling him the problem was already their and the customer was told what would happen, and not listening to me!!! lots of dumb asses, they will bleed u dry if u let them. i fixed their wagon. my boss will understand the customer but she knows that i fix the problem and not make a costly mistake. tuttle

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
