hey class!
how well does it match factory privacy glass??? I get the hp charcoal film from express and the color is beautiful. the true smoke is really good but it has a very slightly blue hue. can you describe the color of the true black???
does express have a distributor in australia at all ? if not they should , their pricing seems very competitive , id be keen to try it if i could get it out here.
THE MATCH TO FACTORY IS ALOT BETTER THAN THE TRUE SMOKE THE COLOR IS AWESOME AND IT IS THE FIRST IMPORTED FILM I KNOW OF TO BE EXTRUDED WITH NO COLOR PUSHING AND IT FEELS AND WORKS LIKE TOP BRAND FILMS WE ARE USE TO
im sure it is a top line film that we already use...usually thats the case
no snap howard only uses his own films

Is that the Black Charcoal? I used some film from them a few years ago called that. Matched factory glass perfectly

I'm thinking about buying some of that true black. I'm just not sure what size roll(s) I wanna try.
What do you mean the film is closer to a factory match?
i just got some in and we like it
Do you guys have any trouble shrinking this film? I would love to use it just keep getting peanuts trie low heat but wouldnt hardley shrink film.

We have had this problem too. Also, it seems that the doors keep getting fingers at the bottom too. I love the look, feel, and esp. the price. But I can't handle peanuts/maggots/whatever they are called on the defrost lines and the fingers. Howard is still amazing and the service was still great though.
I havent had any problems with it .. shrinks good and no fingers..
I just order some this week. I can't wait to try it this weekend.
i think you will like it .. it comes with a good warranty i just wonder how color stable it is....
it lacks adhesive, takes forever to stick. we've had returns on this film already. good thing express is a good company to work with, they will stand behind they're product, but from an installer side, its not worth the hassle.

Side windows I have to let dry a bit then card the bottom edge because of "wanna be" fingers on bottom edge. I ain't lookin' foward to doing a hard to reach back glass and this same thing happen. Other than this the film works great and looks good. But..... hard to lay fingers = contamination. Contamination = I look bad = no customers = I should've stuck with a little more expensive film = lesson learned!
So whats a good alternative sirus I?

I just started pulling off a roll of "40 (factory edges to the side) on roll ups and don't get fingers at the bottom now. If you plan on using this film you'd better keep the bay clean cause it will show any contamination due to the black color.

And nice thickness and color. Thanks Howard
Anybody else having the finger issues ?

Yesterday I tinted an Acura TL (09) with True Black 35% for a local dealership, Looked great, no fingers. Who knew? Okay, now I have had the chance to use it on several cars. Seems to me that is does have finger problems and doesn't hide dirt specs like VT Sirius I. Final Verdict - Overall an "OK" film for use on trucks maybe. Cars no. Too many issues from peanuts to showing of dirt specs too easily. Release liner feels a bit "rubbery: too. Like the price but that's about it. Sorry Howard I just don't like it.
It and the True Smoke seem to have the same issues I found
when we used the true smoke we used 1 ply on rear and 2 ply on the sides
its a very nice film. but it needs improvement in adhesive
QUOTE (ClassOnGlass @ Jun 14 2009, 01:24 AM) [*]694996[/*] when we used the true smoke we used 1 ply on rear and 2 ply on the sides Why was that? Better adhesive on the 1 ply? My biggest problem with the True Smoke was fingers, everything, even doors, had to be shrunk perfectly or you were fighting with it. I also seemed to have issues with peanuts sometimes
not not better adhesive but the thinner the film the less peanuts and shrink marks you get in the rear glass thats any film....as far as shrinking the doors you need to shrink them well or you will get fingers again with any film but the snap works the best on the express in my opinion

Thanks. I don't plan on ever getting more of it anyway though. I'd just rather pay more and like working with the stuff.
Gents,
There were several posts regarding poor initial tack on the True Black. After a great deal of research and testing, I found myself in agreement. A change was implemented over a month ago. Short term peel strength is now 60% higher, which has completely eliminated the puckers (that’s what the lab guys call them). You guys call them something else. They are caused by the memory effect in the base polyester and are overcome with quicker initial tack. As technical challenges go, this was an easy one to overcome. For those of you that took True Black out on a first date and did not fall in love, please give it another chance. Some of my most demanding customers are now raving about the film. I have 10 sample rolls set aside of the new construction. PM or email me if you would like one. First come, first served. It’s a strikingly beautiful film that has been improved as a result of customer feedback. I listen. THANKS TINTDUDE !!! -Howard
Cool beans!

I got my hands on some of your film through a relative of mine up here who orders from you now, and we both had similar opinions. I can't wait to try some of the new stuff then. From everything I've read posted by you on here to first hand opinions, you're a stand up guy Howard and your customer service is great.
