Ok i got my car tinted a few months ago and waited more then needed for windows to dry. I have fingers on pretty much all the windows done. Is there a way to fix these now? or does it absolutely have to be redone? I've tried to get a hold of the tinter but he keeps bs'ing stories and keeps giving me the run around. What should I do?

just tell him you want it sorted or your taking legal advice, tbh he doesnt seem to be much of a tinter if he lets a job out like that twocents.gif
blade
how much did you pay for the tintjob? and is it legal?
SunnyD
I was advised by a friend who had a great job done. The tinter gave me a deal because i run a small home business with automotive costumers. So he only charged me $120CDN in exchange for bringing customers to him. The guy runs his business from home too and has 10 years experience. So i figured it was a good oppurtunity to help someone just starting off like me.
blade
all you can do is take it back to the guy. obviously you're not going to be referring anyone to him if he tints like that....so he should fix it for you.

What kind of car do you have? It's hard to believe a tinter with 10 years behind them would allow this on pretty much all the windows! If you drove off and latter a finger came up ...well that happens sometimes! But he should have checked everything out and you should have as well to make sure everything was ok! I'm sure he would be willing to take care of this if he ever wants any referals from you!

It's on a 97 Prelude. I watched him do it the whole time. From what i seen he looked skilled and knew what he was doing. I looked at it before i left and there was no bubbles. I'm not refering anyone to him him at all. I actually told people not to go to him. I'm never going to a mobile anymore.

There are some mobile tinters that do awsome work! Don't give them a black eye because one guy left a bad taste in your mouth! There are some pretty bad tinters that work at nice shop as well! Just try to resolve the matter with him and if nothing comes out of it calls some shops around you and tell them what happened and see if they can help you! thumb.gif

TA he tried to get have it fixed with no resolution. When you have service done at a shop and you need to get something sorted out it is much easier for the customer to show up at the shops doorstep demanding it be fixed.A mobile service,no matter what service it is,will only fix a problem when it is most conveniant to them.So in the case another "blackeye" on our industry.

This is true! His problem would be easier for him to take care of at a shop provided that the tinter at that shop knows what there doing! As far as service is concerned..your absolutely right!! He would have to depend on the mobile guys schedule! As far as the work is concerned...whether it be at a shop or mobile the tinter is either good or he's not! In each case there can be a "black eye"left on our industry!

Keep this what it is. It is not about a mobile tinter versus a shop tinter. I agree that the tinter should at least look at it, but at the same time we have a person come on here and tell us they have fingers on all the windows. I can't say that sounds very likely and would like to see pictures of this issue.

Tinters should not be judged by the fact that they are mobile or at a shop full time. They should be judged on their work.

Got any pics of this issue Sunny??

yeah....looks like azz and needs to be redone.
TintJunkie
I think I know what the problem is!! He sucks!

I was thinking they were all at the bottom of the windows. Sometimes in the winter time, I will do a car/truck inside with no signs of fingers. Then after the car/truck is pulled out, the glass get cold and a finger may form. In the winter time I tend to take more time to heat the gasket area to try and dry the water off the gasket to prevent this.

You could try to push the fingers out with a credit card but chances are it will leave a white milky line where the fingers were. On the bg, you'd have to cut it to get it to lay down but it still may leave a milky line.

lilDetails
yep....looks like azz! I would say to try and push them out too and you might get it to lay down. The one on the back window might still have water under it if it has been cold where you are.

Get the scrub to come back and fix it.....redo it....or whatever it takes!

Please dont think were all the same ,sorry you got shafted.
Rest easy in the fact that this guy wont last long ,dont think he is being honest regarding his length of time or experience.
Maybe he stroked a piece of film ten years ago and that was his experience, until now.

now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
