A guy walks in and says hes with the District attorneys office and ask if i have workers compensation insurance for my employees? Wondering what premiums other owners are paying or if they consider the workers to be contractors?

Make them all sign an independent contractor contract, that way you are covered....

Here in Florida i think if you have under 5 employees the govt pays your work man comp fees or at least its free . You should check your state laws.
