wasup people,
I need some help. I'm new to the site and I apologise if I posted this thread in te wrong place... i didnt know where else to post it at. anyway, my tint on my vehicle has changed color so I decided to contact the distributor i purchased it from to inquire about the warranty. i was informed that the issues with my tint was covered under the warranty, however, the company, Diamond Automotive window Film, also knows as Film Technologies International (FTI) has gone out of business so therefore he was not able to honor my warranty. anyway, I called the number on the back of my brochure where i heard a recording to contact a different number (i dont recall if it's the same company or not) there I spoke with someone who told me that the company has file bankruptcy and they can not honor the warranty.
i wanted to know... can someone please verify if in fact this company really did go out of business? cus i'm thinking, the guy that answered the phone, said the company has gone out of business, but yet he's still there...? or, maybe its that small percentage of asian in me that's trying to get something done without having to pay for it! (would you rather I lied...?)
can someone please help! you prompt response is appreciated. awaiting replies....

Sorry to hear about your situation. Unfortunately, the company you're referring to, FTI, has gone out of business. I'm not sure what kind of options you may have, but the company that installed it may have some advice?

(doesn't this mean the company is still around?) when calling that number, the option I selected is warranty, which is option 3 if I remember correctly.... option 2 was a recording which gives instructions to call (888-887-2022) for all warranty issues. someone did answer that line and when I asked, the rep told me that I've contacted Sun-Gard. the rep also told me that they could not honor the warranty because Diamond went out of business. if anything, I think that Sun-Gard should be responsible for the warranty since they were once affiliated with Diamond. btw, I also contacted the installation dealer which originally installed the tint and I was told that Dianmond is an affiliated company of Sun-Gard which did go bankrupt and they wont honor the warranty either.

Film Technologies made both Diamond and Sun-gard. They went bankrupt in January of 2008. The warranty died with that company. Your confusion comes from a new company purchasing the name and assets from the bankruptcy court. The court does not mandate that the new company assume the liabilities. That being said, the new manufacturer will help any existing installing dealers service your warranty IF that dealer is willing to take it on. Where are you located, maybe we can help steer you.

shoot looks like youre going nowhere with finding any solutions. your best bet is to try and negotiate with the shop that did it. if i had a problem like that it would still be redone. try to at least get a discount , free removal or something. at least they should do free removal, it wont cost them anything and they should be liable for at least removing it, but i understand them not wanting to put anything back on cuz they cant get that film anymore. and with warranty work the manufacturer compensates the dealer back for the film.
then take it to another shop and get it retinted.
unfortunately the problem youre having happens a lot. but the shops that have this problem usually go out of business too, cuz of so many redos.

Bill usually hops into any thread regarding Sungard. I'm surprised he hasnt stepped up and handled this yet. There are shops on this forum who have been helped with warranty issues.

yeah i heard that if companies still kept the new sungard the old warranties would still be good.

I personally have been offering to re-do for 1/2 price and not charging on labor with the Sun-garb warranties.
You should call Sun-gard and ask them where the nearest dealer is to you. Find them and they should be able to help you out better than a shop that is not using sun-gard film anymore.....

Can anyone give me an opinion on the Diamond Quartz series. I picked some up cheap but am too afraid to use. I tried to sell cheap and got NO calls, so I still think it must be questionable. Any opinions. I installed some on old F150 and it looked fine, but no 1st hand knowledge of this film. Thanks.

I have a bunch of FTI diamond film that is the same as regular film just a label over the old one. Never was different film just cost more because the dealers were “special” the customer got a diamond no fault warrantee that FTI sold to the dealer at a extra cost if memory is right. Dude you are getting real close to surpassing azzhat and entering the area of defamation. I’m not real sure what your agenda is; I don’t even have a clue what you are talking about. I have trained for years and some sponsors have shipped me their returned film for training but that’s about it. I don’t even sell that much film and certainly am not a player in the bulk or seconds business. I use lots of Global QDP and HP in my retail shop and have a pretty good supply of SolarG, STek and FTI film in inventory for warrantee match work. Most of that film is left from when it was my primary product and some I have bought from tinters going out of business over the years. Most of that film (I haven’t put the FTI rolls up yet) I have priced below my cost to clear it out. Is that what is bothering you? So where you from? Peace out Mr. Harmony

If you look at his website and videos, you will see that they run a very large window tinting shop and school. It looks as if they are cycling through 20+ cars a day, I would like to see your shop come close to that. I also remember in the past talking to him, and he said he buys upwards of $500k of film a year. I don't know about you, but I sure as hell know my business is not that big. He has already given you a yes/no answer a couple times. So stop being a instigator and asking the same stupid question and trying to cause problems. As for FTI, yes, he keeps mentioning it, but if you look, its because you specifically ask about it each time. First, ATT asked about the film, so he responded with any answer. Any who has talked to Stan knows that he has a very large inventory of leftover film, just like he states, for warranty work. He simply offered to sell some of his extra to ATT if he was interested in using it more. Second, you accuse him of buying seconds, so he simply goes on to defend the film, and talk about why it was good when he carried it. Third, he talks about the brands he used to carry, as he switches brands a lot. He said he has a stock of SG, SunT, and FTI films that he sells at a very discounted price a lot of time to make room for new inventory. I know personally I have bought several rolls of film from him, and it is identical to my main line factory direct film that I have. NO difference whatsoever, it is not "seconds". Take the stick out of your ass, and stop trying to cause problems and hate on Stan, because if you were to actually talk to him, you would see that he runs a very good business and school. He didn't become the biggest tint school for no reason.

Harmony azzhat...oh no not the name calling defamation.............your kidding right, I guess next you threaten with a lawyer No agenda, just a simple yes or no answer Location: Oklahoma City area 78-93 Dallas area 93- present Rep and Distributor been out of the rep business since 07 but still talk to old contacts daily Funny you keep mentioning FTI in your responses to me, care to elaborate why? I know why, because you know I speak the truth. I could care less what you do with your business or film. You hint around here for years how youve been screwed by all these companies and so on. I have personally bought Stans film that he resells on his website and had it tested and you are correct its not seconds and he runs a hell of a business and school. Do you se me critique it anywhere?. I never accused him of only buying seconds. I just know for a fact that some of the blow ups hes had in the past have been over his want or need to buy "factory second" films and just wanted him to come clean and speak the whole truth. I am so sick of liars on here its pitful. In my opinion these guys that cant tell the truth or a bigger eyesore to the industry than the hacks that are whoring out prices. Now im done

he's not buying the seconds to sell, hes buying it to use in his school. think about it, when you tint many many windows a day, and just take the film off and scrap it ten minutes later, why waste first run film on that? getting secondhand film is a lot cheaper, and that way it is going to a good use and not just getting thrown away, or sold to someone who would actually use it on a car and try and sell it. you can't blame him for trying to save money on something that would otherwise be a waste

(would you rather I lied...?)
can someone please help! you prompt response is appreciated. awaiting replies.... you're screwed. give up and pay to have it done by a real film co.

Maybe I spoke too soon! The shop claims the film was never sent....and taking into consideration that it's been over a month now since my last post (waiting for the film to arrive) and now I seem to not be able to get a hold of "Will from Sun-Gard".... Will may no longer be with the same company since the greeting on his voice mail has changed but I really don't know.
Perhaps Bulldog, (if willing) can try and help me once again and see if he can get any info.... or I'll just pay to get it done again. From a more reliable company this time...

Anyone still here? thought I'd give an update. First of, many thanks to Bulldog who once again pulled thru for me. He provided me with contact information to the top dog of Sun-Guard and was able to get my tint done finally. The tint was a lil bit on the lighter side though, but I can't complain much. Not planning on keeping the car anyway...in fact, I'm preparation to sell it and fixing the tint was one on my list.
Anyway, thought I'd give an update for those of you who cares to know.
