Full Version: Projector on Frost Film
These guys right out of college who are opening up an internet cafe wanted me to do their entire store front in white frost. I figured they just wanted it for privacy but they surprised me when I finished the job tonight and turned on their projector and this was what I saw from the outside. Very cool Very cool indeed. They will be sending me a video of it in action and I will post it, but here are some pics for now.

I dont think they will have a problem getting attention from passerbys....lol
man imagine what would happen if those kids got some amateur porrn vid in they're hands
Is that looking at it from the outside on both pics, or just one?
The door is on the right in both pics, so it must be looking at it from the same side in both pics.
Cool idea!
thats is cool...
Yeah both pics are from the outside parking lot. They just reversed the projection image on the inside. They said they will be playing wii from the outside this summer...lol Video clip of it coming soon...
We did an internet cafe' with blackout film! I wish i could have shown him this job! I bet he would have gone this direction!
Thinking about putting this up for Tip of the Week next week.
It really is a great idea!
Here is a pic from a mall in our "Chinatown" where they were running an infomercial on the glass. I didn't do the install. I'm posting it to encourage the idea because it's a great selling tool for their business and for yours. Now if only our shop had a window facing a street that there was lots of traffic on to show pics of our work.........
Hey TA get your behind to your blockout job and see if they want a removal/ replacement. Tell them you were only thinking of them.
That is cool, im surprised it's as clear as it is...
We did the same last year at central station

Man, that is an AWESOME advertising idea... that way the product can be easily changed.
That is awesome, pretty clear picture too.

Wait till I post the video (when i get a chance) its really cool to see it animated. I believe the projector was 1080dpi, so that prob helped with the clarity. This place is in the middle of the Ohio State University campus area. Believe it or not, right next door there is an Indian Bong store...
That's such a cool idea that i think this would be easy to sell for advertisement! Hell i'd like to have it on our storefront with different cars and homes tinted! What do you think one of those projectors would cost?

Plus you wouldn't have to make your whole store front do that, you could have a 2 foot wide piece of frosted in the middle of an otherwise clear or tinted pane with the projector focused on the smaller area.
If you were creative, you could frame the frosted area with tint in the shape of a TV screen. I like the creative part of it cuz it's endless what you can come up with!
Just remember....I dont know if it would work during the daytime hours in bright light but at night it is awesome. Those projectors cost anywhere from $800-$2500 depending on the dpi you want.
Looks good and excellent idea

Those projectors cost anywhere from $800-$2500 depending on the dpi you want. My dad has a biz where he deals with comm/resi audio video. He said a projector (a bad ass one) that would project a quality image on something like that would be in the range of $15-$30,000. You may be able to get a decent image with a $5,000-$10,000 projector. He says they have to be extremely bright, and adjusted correctly to work. I love the idea, but I have to wonder...can it be seen in the daytime? Can it be set up where you arent constantly running the risk of someone walking in front if the image? It would appear that it could only be seen at night, or on windows set deep inside of an awning.
The Customer's check bounced....lol

hi this is my fist time on here.i have done jobs like this for a few years .one thing to look at are the advertising laws in your state.a few jobs we could not do.it is !llegal in some parts of the state.check in to that before you waste your time and theirs.films that work well are. NRM-PS2 .3M dusted crystal. 363670 light diffuser.also 3M VIKUTI. chek it out on youtube.vikuti works the best in day light.
