could just have been a bad roll? every line of every brand has a bad run every once in a while, but usually they catch it at the factory.

Doesent state where hes from, no years expierience, then slags off a very god film??? Smells fishy to me?? [/q I have been tinting for the last 20 years using suntek carbon since it was released. From southern california where is sunny 90% of the time.I know you might think is the best but i think im not alone .it shrinks good but i do not like to be lied to...
Seems to me like there are more mixed messages about Carbon film than any other film mentioned.
People either love it and think it's the best film in the world, or they complain about it scratching, fading, turning purple, curling, etc. Carbon technology is hazier. QUOTE (hoosierwindowtek @ Mar 16 2009, 12:47 PM) [*]674245[/*] Seems to me like there are more mixed messages about Carbon film than any other film mentioned. People either love it and think it's the best film in the world, or they complain about it scratching, fading, turning purple, curling, etc. this does seem like its the case. Personally, I'm indifferent on it, other than that I don't use it because I don't feel its worth the price compared to comparable films, and that it scratches easier than some other films I use.
There is another post by Fast Tint Man and he has listed his shop in Loma Linda, CA and they are a reputable shop. I cant make any statements on the film issue, I dont think its my place to get into that.

hows it going bro all good my way good to see ya here posting havent seen ya in a bit
i've had no issues or come-backs with suntek's carbon here. but our climate is pretty forgiving compared to many.
I've been using Carbon since it came out and only had a few isolated cases. Must've been a bad roll or something. Very nice film and a great upsell of the Suntek High Performance.

I had the same problem on my car. It was on there for a little less then 2 years. It is a very nice film to work with but longevity (< 2 years?) is an issue that cannot be overlooked. This was about 2-3 years ago. If one or two that come back a year is all you get, then that's not bad. It's when something goes horribly wrong and you start getting one or two a week that will change your mind in a hurry. Hopefully that won't happen though.
Dont you guys understand? one or two cars coming back is just the start of a storm .
not necessarily....there are such things as bad rolls.
ok ...I just thought I should post this I do not think it was a bad roll.
QUOTE (FAST TINT MAN @ Mar 17 2009, 11:38 AM) [*]674466[/*] ok ...I just thought I should post this I do not think it was a bad roll. I'm glad you did post this.. I hold judgement out on the film..but personally I'm shockeed at how many tinters jumped on a relatively new film without any longevity history. Being "user friendly " and "looks good" is only a percentage of what really matters if your an established business and hope to have rtepeat customers. I hope this is an isolated incident and therefore gives tinters more choices if wanting to change brands..with that said, I hope others report if the film is giving long term grief to save others aggrivation when choosing brands..fait enough to say
i think Tintaitor did a thread with pics of this a while ago , i searched but could not find ...
Although I could clearly notice fading on my personal car, I never had a repeat customer complain about it. When us tinters see new tint everyday and know how it should look, we can often tell that it has faded a bit. Not so much with the average consumer. Like many others looking to try another film, we would have little to no personal experience with its longevity. We have to either just hope that it will last a reasonable amount of time or rely on other users experiences with a film. My experience was about 2-3 ago and the film may have changed since then.

How about the film rep that testifies to the OP having a reputable shop? If two cars came back that only means that those were the people that chose to go the warranty route. There are others that will take it as you providing a bad product and they will call it a loss and not go back to your shop.....ever. If the film on a car has gone bad, some people would rather not have bad film replaced with the same exact film. It happens, we've all had plenty of customers because of it. I've been tinting for 11 years and my dad for 20 years before I even started. I never heard about Sun Tek until I logged on to tintdude. I got the sample and thats as far as it will ever go with me.
Scotty, Fast Tint Man is a reputable shop in Yorba Linda, CA I've done business with him before and consider him a good friend.
