Networking with realtors

This week has been pretty slow for me so I have been spending a lot of time contacting other businesses to network with. I thought contacting realtors (and new home sales offices) would be a great opportunity. Unfortunately, they cannot accept my referral fee offer. It is a conflict of interest, even though I stress confidentiality. With realtors being the first to meet potential customers it seems like a no brainer to target them. I'm new at obtaining network affiliates, so any help on this issue would be of great service to me.

I have joined a networking group that meets every Thursday at 7:30AM at a local coffee shop. I went for the first time today and put a lot of my cards in a lot of hands. I managed to get an independent realtor and a glass company to network with. I would recommend anyone who doesn't do this to do it. I think this will immensely help my business. I enrolled in a membership for $10 a month. I get my name in a publication and on a networking website. Sweet!!

I havnt had much luck with realators or new home construction (at least the big corporate ones). Glass companies and contractors and HVAC guys are best (as long as they pay you...lol)

Hey out there - it was a good idea to incentivize (is that a word?) realtors with a referral fee to get in on a home they are listing agent or selling agent for. However, in addition to not being able to accept the money they are also really slow these days. Try this on for size. Most of the realtors I know at church and from life didn't get the Bachelor's degree in Real Estate (if there is such a thing) and then start their career as a Real Estate agent. They are people who used to do something else and got into real estate to make money or have job flexibility - they are salespeople. Therefore, approach them as the insurance companies and pest control companies do ... ask them to rent their Contact List. Write up a script of exactly what you will say or mail to their contacts, including your quote "Bob the Realtor said to call you" and let them see it. Tell them you will give them a certain amount per name/number/email. Oops ... i almost forgot ... there is no way they will give you anyone's name until they believe in what you are selling so do a great job showing them how you pick products ... maybe join my site Tintbuyer.com as a dealer who gets referrals at www.tintbuyer.com/dealer.
Keep your head up - we are in this together.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
