patio doors 4 0r 7 mil

I am tinting a couple a patio doors next week for a friend and they are haveing alot of breakins at the town homes he lives in,I was trying to decide beetween 4 mil or 7 mil I have done a couple small jobs with 4 mil.

How are you achoring it? Otherwise its just a big piece of glass busted out held together by a film.

4mil is a joke, as is 7mil....

i would do 8 or 12 mill and it must be anchored to provide security

I was going to remove the film from the frame tint it and reinstall the frame useing it a an ancor any other suggestions would be great.

they have a silicone agent for fastening see what you rep offers

don't do anything more them 7mil. any film you install isn't gonna hold. IF THEY WANT IN,THEY'LL GET IN. is like a car, if they want it that bad they'll get it.

remember it's tempered glass. you have to tint it on both side. and its only a deterant, like an alarm. it won't stop a burglar, but make it harder so the burglar will go onto the next house. burglars want it easy not hard, sell the film that way and you'll probably get it.

don't be liable for any breakins?

don't get advise from film reps. who have no clue and is still learning with 2 years exp.

also, no dow corning 995 just because they're having a siminar on it. doesn't make you a professional at it. it not very easy its messy, have a professional glazer do it, i use to hire a glazer and have it done correctly with 1/2" on film and frame total 1 inch bead.

A glow in the dark vinyl sticker saying Security Film Installed near the handle goes a long way in addition to the film.

I think 9 mil would be a better choice "Glock" is good brand. Wait till their inside though clean up won't be much worse than messing with 995 and tape
