Training? Is there a "school" for security laminate

Let me start off by saying I am NOT in the business so please be kind until you hear me out. I own a commercial building that houses a retail pharmacy that had a concrete block thrown through it TWICE in one week. After researching solutions....security laminate seemed the best choice financially and aesthetically. I looked at the tech specs from various manufacturers and decided on "a certain brand" (hold on, hear me out). I looked for a dealer locally and there was not one anywhere near our area....since I could not find an installer, I ordered the product directly from the company. My husband, father and I installed it ourselves. We purchased blue maxs...made slip soln, watched video installation instructions, etc. It actually looks pretty good for a bunch of novices. We installed 14ml.
Since we have installed it, others have inquired. So, we decided to look into a dealership (since there was none!). We purchased a dealership but since have discovered some damaging and very disconcerting information about the company that we have invested in. We are most likely not going to proceed with this company and cut our losses before it gets any worse. Unfortunately, this company had excellent promotion and a training program.
So my question is....since we have NO experience in the industry, is it possible to get training/certification elsewhere? Is this a business you guys recommend starting from scratch? My husband and I were doing this mainly for our daughter and son-in-law who are in their mid twentys and were really looking forward to this. He is in the construction business and they were both excited to start something that they could build and call their own someday. We all wanted a "family business".
Any and all advice appreciated. Any schools? really good training programs? or just drop it now and cut the losses...

Well I know of the film that you went with and you dont need to go into any franchise. I would highly recommend taking some training classes for the installation of the film and training on how to sell it. I know the training for the sales side sounds dumb but when dealing with security films there is liability in it and especially if it is being installed for bombblast mitigation. There are certain teqnics for installation and you should also get alot more knoledgable about types of glass and the differences in those types of glass. You should be as knowledgable as you can to give the best to your customers. Again I would highly recommend looking into getting training on installation. Even seasoned vets of the solar side of window films get training for security, the smart ones anyway. Where are you located at so we can better know whats near you for training.

I would recommend buying the right tools for the job. First and foremost I would invest in a filmhandler to cut precise pieces of film which makes installatio alot easier. Secondly, You didnt mention the use of an attachment system (Wet/dry). If the film isnt attached to the frame the glass will just fall out in one big piece instead of adhering to the frame. You are doing the right thing by asking for information and willing to learn the correct way to install the film. Dont forget the usual business must do's, business license, insurance...ect. Good Luck in your venture!

Take a look the pricing is VERY INEXPENSIVE for a dealership, training is limited BUT...... their prices are great.
www.shattersafe.com Look for the link on the bottom left somewhere that shows.. dealerships available.
