Interesting proposal put to the Treasurer by the Motor Traders Association of Australia. They propose the government introduce a revolutionary stimulus plan that will pay people $3000.00 to crush their 10yr or older cars. It is being pushed as a pollution reducing move with the side benefit of boosting the struggling auto industry as the $3000 will be paid as a 'car voucher' to be used on the purchase of a new car. A similar program has seen a 10% inrease in car sales in Germany.
Considering that we have about 7 million vehicles older than 10yrs registered here that could be a very expensive policy to implement so they have suggested a 3 year $4.5 billion cap. The benefits to the auto industry could be significant, it will be interesting to see if it flies.

We buy or fuel by the Litre 3.8L to a gallon I think. On the weekend fuel in Sydney was $1.50AU... $1.05US today it's $1.20AU... 84cents US. How does that compare?
mates
i was watching this on the news , the problem it will bring is people crushing their old car get 3 grand then where the heck will they get the other 20 grand for the rest of the new car ? theyl borrow it then wont be able to pay it back. its going to encourage bad debt in my eyes but it may benefit any tinters who do a lot of dealer work. i dont do dealer work so wont affect me much but i guess on the bright side if the cars get crushed i wont have to remove their purple tint ! (i know removal is money but i hate it !)

our fuel prices are stupid compared to the US although UK i think are much worse than ours !

4 and 6 cylinders are most popular. Most households generally have one of each, I do and you feel it an the pump, the truck will cost about $80- $90 to fill weekly and the Rav4 will cost $50 to $60 for almost a fortnight.
GTO is classic car, saw a friend wrap one around a tree many, many years ago, what a waste of a beautiful machine. The GTO was rebirthed by Holden a few years ago and is just as mean as its predecessor its sold as a Monaro. GM Holden is definately still around.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
