i live in the texarkana area and have been in contact with katzkin and was told that a company in shreveport has the area but am having a hard time buying kits. if any one is willing to sell them to me please contact clint at 903 280 6403 so we can work out the details. any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Why can't you get an account with them? It seems around here they'll sell to any butthead working from his mom's garage....
i wish it was that easy. i called applied for an account they called me back and said that a guy in shreveport has my area and i would have to call and buy through him. he does work for dealerships in texarkana so i am pretty sure he isn't going to sell to me.
PM me with the kits that you need.
I will see if I can help...

I have been in business 24 years and have never been turned down to buy anything from anybody but Katzkin won't sell to me,they do have a katzin dealer in houston but they are 20 miles away
I'm a listed Katzkin dealer/installer for around here. The other day I had a customer standing at the counter wanting a kit for his truck. I called K, and was told that my account has been made inactive. I just needed a price for the kit. Was told I had to get permission from a sales rep, and to wait for a call. I had to tell the customer I'd have to get back with them. When someone walks out the door without putting down a deposit, YOU"VE LOST THEM.
I called Katzkin back and laid into them. Just because I don't buy hundreds of kits a year, I should at least be notified when I'm going to be dropped or put inactive. The woman on the phone was very stable amidst my ranting. They got my status back, I got the price, I called the customer......and he's yet to come by and make a deposit to buy the covers. Yep, they cost me about $2,000. They are okay for covers, but I still prefer making my own. If I were to add all the years of everyone in my shop, I'd have about 92 years experience...... Just makes you sound like a tool when you make a statement like that... You see how these guys are, banning only makes them turn their rage onto me and some of them become stalkers.

I'm smart enough to know, that if I walk into a mans business and he tells me he has 32 years experience and he hasn't seen 30 yet himself, that he is not the type of person I would want to do business with... Just my opinion... It just seems that you're blowing smoke up their a$$ before they even walk in the door.... Be honest and let your work, (oh I mean your seamstresses work) speak for itself, cause your mouth doesn't seem to be helping....
i can give you a bit of insight on the reason Katzkin may or maynot sell to a company, Katzkins primary focus is on the new car industry, nearly every single metro area in the country has a dealer expediter or several, they are very supportive of that network, one of you commented that Katzkin will give any person with a garage an account, that is simple not true, a very good friend of mine is katzkins regional manager, one day when we were together , he showed me how many distributor requests he recieves on a weekly basis, the only reason we even started talking was because the email came to his phone. this may be hard to believe but i looked at one weeks requests Via E-mail myself , he had over 40 requests for new accounts. he said last year alone he had over 2500 requests for new accounts. it was crazy, the problem he faces is most just want a leather for their own car, others are up against an already established dealer network, so you need to respect the fact that although you may be 20 miles or even 50 miles away they are protecting their customers that are servicing that market, if they are turning you down for a direct prurchase, that means they have someone servicing that market, and if the shoe was on the other foot, you certainly would want them to protect your market, wouldnt you? othewise it just becomes a price war, then the product becomes a market flooded no money making commodity, they never flat out turn you away from their product, they always give you a distributor to purchase from. they are one of the easiest companies to work with and their service staff is second to none, as far as an account going in active, here is what i know about this, if you have not bought from them in a long time, the account goes inactive, this just means when you want to buy again and become active, the account manager has to know. i sold over 300 leather interiors last year and i am glad they are a bit cautious about who they set up. there are other avenues to buy thier product. i will tell you this, i have used all the other crap out there and this is the best, and the support is unparalelled. i sound like a commercial. lol. good luck guys. i hope this sh***y economy hasnt hurt anyone.

I agree and see your point. BUT, in my own experience, there was a guy that started selling kits to one of my dealers, I looked up the address and it was from a house in the middle of a neighborhood, nowhere near any commercial location. He has since gone belly up, cause he was not a real business and not a real businessman.... I am glad to hear that they are being a bit more conscientious about selecting eligible dealers and installation facilities...
Yes Shady is dead on the money. They would sell to anyone for a long time. I guess they finally realized it was only creating price wars.
I still use Kats and do 2 kits a week on average, good mix with tint for the off days. They have been having problems lately- about 1/3 of the kits are missing something or damaged. They overnight the replacements, but it still is aggrivating. QUOTE (I-tinted-the-pyramids @ Sep 4 2009, 12:34 PM) [*]714494[/*] Yes Shady is dead on the money. I've only had one kit come in damaged and that was the carriers fault, it looks like they drop kicked it across the country... One other time, a J channel was sewn on backwards, but I fixed that here on site... But like you said the replacement part was shipped next day and the job was completed on time...
i have also not had any real issues with kits, i expect a leather kit to take a bit of working when installing it, it is afterall a natural material , they arent absolutely perfect but in my exerience about as close as ya get! they also will tell you that! i had a similar situation where i thought they were doing business with a guy from his house, turns out, he was a mobile guy, didnt do bad work but the adress was his house, i guess he needed somewhere to send the product, i had to jump through hoops to get my distributorship back in '99 so they have been paying attention for a while now, also, the management team that was in place through the '90's is now or was the blowhards from that road*** company, i hate their product, just doesnt feel like leather, that makes it hard to sell. before i had my distributorship, i was buying from the internet, got tied up with some good guys, helped me alot. have a great labor day
Anybody with a hook up on Katskinz please email me... flyboyindy@aol.com My local shop here in Indy wants to bend me over.... lol... I can do the install myself... Just need a good price...
