I still don't get the positive negative thing. confused2.gif

the second pic would be a negative since its a negative it means that the next layer will have a air gap that gives it depth or 3d look as it appear as a raised surface around the edges

positive would be layin the colors red and blue first like most everyone else does....

Okay, that makes sense. Now here's another question.. How would you achieve this when cutting it all out on a plotter? I've been inlaying my graphics, but I do like the look of the negative.

imagine a coloring book without color (just a outline and then put together your graphics with the first layer being weeded clear and still having the clear on it once the silver is added handcut around it and its complete. with a plotter some graphics are already out lined like the gator head i do but the last layer of silver is always hand cut... then after he graphics are all put together then i add it to the window pattern just pull the clear back add the graphics put clear back over it and hard card it pull clear once and to remove clear off the graphics and hard card again...then install the graphics and window pattern all at once...no transfer tape needed ....hahahhahhahaha....you have finaly got it out of me...call me if you have any question? 904-294-8468(tint)

this was my first try at shading so it has a 35% inlay--
my first cut on the plotter was black
second cut was on the plotter was 35% witch i tried cuuting most lower or under neith the pony to make shadow highlights
the last layer solid silver and hand cut around the pony then added it to the pattern for the quater

with the 5% being a three ly film it always works best on negative since it is thinker it realy bevals the edges as you see here

Nice...I like how the negative first layer uses the air gap to add dimension to the graphic. beer.gif
Jeff Rutherford Jax fl.
im by no means saying this is how they are all done, there is so many ways to achieve the same effect

its just the first layer having to be negative! i hope you have fun with it...
Jeff Rutherford Jax fl.
negative......always loks better

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
