Full Version: Clear Max
Wish I would have tried this yrs. ago! Been too set in my ways I guess. This is great for 1.5 films so I guess for now the Blue Max is unemployeed 'cept for flat glass. I tried it cause a few of you said it conformed to the glass better and you guys were right! Thanks!

This is great for 1.5 films so I guess for now the Blue Max is unemployeed 'cept for flat glass. I tried it cause a few of you said it conformed to the glass better and you guys were right! Thanks! it conforms to the glass better because its softer. I've never had an issue with the auto bluemax not curving before. I don't think the clearmax is hard enough to use as a final squeegee because it doesnt get enough water out.
I love my clear max.
I tried a clear max for about a month. I was having bubbles pop up as the tint dried.... I couldn't figure out what was happening for a bit and then I traced it back to changing to the clear max! I still have the blade in my tool box, but have not touched it in almost 9 years.
The auto blue max will bend to any curve I have pushed against!
love the clear max
i have used it for a while, but nothin lays it flatter then the blue maxx

Clear max !!! I like the blue max when you cut the top corners. But dont last as long as clear max . Thick defrosters groove the blue ....

Doesnt seem to push all the water out like when its new. Never tried trimming it though . Got about 4 old ones i stopped using QUOTE (scottydosnntkno @ May 3 2009, 12:01 AM) [*]683771[/*] QUOTE (DOGG07 @ May 1 2009, 06:54 PM) [*]683595[/*] Clear max !!! I've had the same unger/bmax for a little over 3 years and its still going strong. Scotty, I had my first bluemax for about that time frame. I found out about how a sharp edge will remove more water and I am sure that I tint a whole lot more now than I did back then. I HAVE to replace my bluemax auto blades about every 3 months at this time in life. I have sharpened them on a hard card sharpener and on a belt sander, but they don't last like a new one....rather replace them for the small price they are. Try a new one and see how much better your film is laying down....you might find that you can't "peel the film back for 30 minutes" if you get a new blade and remove solution.. I've been getting better and not leaving/losing them
scotty...you really need to read the post and LISTEN to it. If you have a 3 year old blue max and you are still using it then you are NOT getting all the water out that you should be.
I KNOW this as I was in the same boat. IF a blue max lasts for 3 years then you are not installing that much film. The blade edge will get DULL and it will be dull BEFORE you can even feel it with your finger. If you don't believe this then get access to the Llumar tech online and they will tell you the same thing. Others on here tell you the same thing but you just don't want to listen..... So, now I suggest LISTEN and shut up for a bit! QUOTE (lilDetails @ May 3 2009, 10:00 PM) [*]683928[/*] scotty...you really need to read the post and LISTEN to it. So, now I suggest LISTEN and shut up for a bit! and compared to a lot of the people on here I don't install a ton of film. Right now is busy season I average 5-10 cars a week depending on the week. Like the last three I've been turning away a lot since its finals week this week, and final projects were due last week. I only did 2 cars each of these weeks. Yeah I don't do the volume of a lot of people, but then again tinting isn't the only thing I do with my life. After this week I finally have a two week break before my 17 summer credits start QUOTE (scottydosnntkno @ May 3 2009, 08:22 PM) [*]683936[/*] QUOTE (lilDetails @ May 3 2009, 10:00 PM) [*]683928[/*] scotty...you really need to read the post and LISTEN to it. does nobody like turbos? I got rid of the unger a long time ago. Anyone switched from unger to a yellow turbo or vice versa?
yellow turbo will not be getting as much water out as a clear max in an unger or similar handle.....you will just not have the pressure with a turbo......
I use the yellow turbo and never have a problem with getting water out. I am sure it doesn't get as much out as the unger but it works for me. The film cures very quickly here. The water evaporates fast! I will usually push out the water a couple times too with the turbo

Other times I turbo it then give it one pass of a bmax/unger.
yeah good call on the pass with the blue or clear max
