I am just starting in the upholstery business but have had schooling and some experience but not enough to accuratly estimate labor hours for your average bucket seats and other usual items. I was wondering if anyone could help me out on getting an average for reupholstering some bucket seats, bench seats and other items. this would help me a lot in figuring my estimates. In my schooling they told me 8 hours for one bucket seat and 14 hrs for both bucket seats. is this somewhat close to the going rate?
thanks in advance for any help, Chad

Those are averages. It doesn't include when you're doing Tuck n Roll in the seats, or redesigning the seat faces. Lots of particulars to a seat that pretty much makes it a labor/material basis for charging. After awhile, you start to get a feel for what you should be making from an item. I tell customers that the AVERAGE cost of a bucket seat (like a Camaro seat) is about $500. Goes up or down depending on the seat.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
