I have hung 15mil before and it wasnt all that bad. Just remember to wet the adhesive aswell as the glass and get something to put in the bottom of your unger handle for leverage. It will help out alot. Also, you will need to probably make 3 passes to make sure and get as much water out as possible. Be sure and overlap each pass as you would do when mowing the lawn. I am sure you know of the film tunneling when it is precut so watch out for that.

Now thank you .I do know how to apply this film I did not see anything on hear about 14 mil.so I thought I would ask this. You are exactly right to make 3 passes I do 1 vertical and 2 horizontal’s and I am 6foot 1 and 235 pounds that helps. Far as precutting goes I will just re roll it back on the big @ss core it came on. And transport it to the job site. And to cut it you need to mark it with a straight edge and cut it with a very good scissors just a hair smaller then the window it will leave a nice clean edge unlike a machine or cutting it on a table with a razor blade. That will give it an ice ridge .Plus I am installing a containment system also. Thanks again if anybody has others things to add please do so.very wise for such a young installer.

What kind of attachment are you doing? Wet glaze?

1” rubber with attached adhesive.its really 2” wind 1” on the frame and 1” on the glass. Easy install compared to Dow 995 that stuff will get messy.and also looks better.

My advise is to keep quiet about the project or madcow, mmm and lulu secret agents will steal it from you. I also would have expressed my concerns to them regarding the optical clarity and the need to assess the realistic threat level they want to achieve. We do a fair amount of s&s film for the Feds and I don't even sell 14 mil. sounds like you are comitted so remember that the temperature needs to be warm to properly cure. My biggest competitor did a 150K job in a cold environment for a casino and it did not cure properly and is fightiing a watery warranty issue! Better them than me. I say 6 pass per glass to remove water.

You are correct. My bad as I did say containment system .have you installed this at all.and also I will take your first advice as well.

I have not as of yet. During the certification seminar I noticed a few things that I will watch out for when I do. Mitering or coping the corners requires a bit of practice to make the corner look good, very long runs will require some attention to detail to keep them perfectly straight. The VHB tape used is exactly that Very High Bond Flaugh.gif and of course the cost will require one to learn fast and not F##k up very often.

i've used the white for residential but not the wider black for commercial. the corner cuts and getting the visible edge straight are the hard parts. 10 years ago i was doing permagard 12 mil installs with the clear tape. now that was an attachment system that looked like crap!!!

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
