Mustangdroptop96
Hey guys I have A newer grand prix GXP coming in later, couldnt find anything about them on here. Any tips, tricks? I usually dont pull out side seals i usually just tape them off, I just pull out the bottom sweeper, is it a pain on these? Back window problems? any input appreciated! Thanks guys!

Also, while your reading this, I have a Saturn Aura being dropped off tonight too, I couldnt find anything on those either. Anything on those I should be aware of? And how are they on the "cake" meter? They look pretty simple!

I just want to end on a note, is it just me or does anyone else hate GMs designs!! they make it near impossible to tuck tint on side windows on almost all their cars!

lol2.gif lol2.gif Grand prixs are some of the easiest cars on the road to do. The BG is basically flat with nothing in the way, and the sides are small with well defined edges. Theres no need to pull the seals on any GM car, because their always nice and loose and the film slips right in. Maybe you were talking about "tucking" as in doing the top half then the bottom half? Even still theres no problems since all their windows have plastic side trim not felt, so you don't get contam. Should be a easy 1hr car.

Same with the aura. Basically a mix between a GP/G6. Nothing hard about it at all.

The Aura is pretty simple. Take the front rubbers off, they pull right out. I don't pull panels so don't know how to on this car, there is no need. Only real problem is the brakelight. You can get back there pretty good with a bulldozer or a green tailfin works the best. If you feel you can't get back there, the deck comes out easily. Fold the seats down there are 4 13mm bolts then the deck is held in with 2 push pins on either side. Oh the front doors and windshield are laminate so no razors. The rear doors have some felt so be careful on those

You can still razor the laminated glass. Do it all the time with no issues dunno.gif

So their like the new impalas? It kinda looked the same, but I wasn't sure. Didn't want to mess around with it, but like the impalas its def worth the 20 seconds to pull it out

The guy said in his original post that he doesn't want to pull the side seals.... Flaugh.gif dunno.gif

I normally don't like to either, but it takes all of 20 seconds to do all 4 on a impala, and he said these were similar so why not?

only problem i had was on the lower part of the bg is impossible with out the slammer or maybe the bulldozer, which ever one is the longer one. but sides are easy, and i didn't even need to pull any of the seals.

You can still razor laminated glass, but I scratched an RL window and an Aura window. So that was the end of that for me. Do what you want. No reason to use a razor on those cars. The Aura will scratch.

The bulldozer is the longer one. a sideswiper will work too, or even a 12" white/black edge card.

most newer cars(07+ ) I don't razor for the most part. I just use a scrubbie on them with no issues.

I razor all rollups and never had a problem but then I don't do many domestic cars either. What kind of scrubbie do you use? I sometimes use the green/yellow but they've been known to scratch back glass, at least on Honda's. I still use 0000 steel wool on most cars but that stuff falls apart after a couple uses and can leave remnants in the side channels on roll ups.

I just use the standard white ones dunno.gif no issues with scratching or anything. I would never use a yellow/green on any glass on a car ever

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
