Super Glue for minor cuts

Custom Search

TintDude
If you get a minor cut while tinting and band-aids aren't practical because they will get wet, you can always use a small amount of super glue (ethyl cyanoacrylate) to keep the cut closed and clean until the job is done.

Hold the cut closed and apply a very small amount of super glue along the cut and let it dry. Try to keep the glue on the surface and not in the cut. This works in a pinch, but it may irritate the skin, and should not be used on a deep cut.

There is even an antibacterial version of super glue for this very purpose called Dermabond.

Well, yeah, but that gets wet and you can't use that finger anymore, with the glue it's like nothing happened.

Super glue was used in the Vietnam war to seal the wounds in the field before they could be taken back to a field hospital

dermabond is what is used in the emergency room over here for monor cuts. although its much more simple than stiches, it still cost about $500. to close a 1/2 cut. i saved myself about 6 trips to the ER by just using regular krazy glue.

That glue is awesome!

This is slightly off topic but my son had the base of his nose reattached to his face with that stuff, the plastic surgeon thought it would be the kindest option for a 4 yr old, he's almost 12 now and has a barely visable scar.... he still remembers the sting though and the fact that I held him down!

Duct tape and a blue towel is what i used to re attach my nipple when it was ropped off at the shop at 5 am. it stayed on the whole day (15hrs) while i workd on a 76' scaff sweatin my but off. although the harness didnt feel great. wonder if the glue would have helped?

and yes it did grow back.
VaTinterPMan
You know they invented super glue back in some war just for the purpose of cuts and things like that.

I can' ttell you how many stiches I've saved and hours NOT lost in production over the years because of this tip. Everyone always tells me it's not healthy, but I explain to them it's not going into the bloodstream if you hold the cut TIGHTLY together while the glue sets which usually is quite quick..much better then any bandaide oe masking tape /paper towel combo. thumb.gif

Fbigeyes.gif wait, wait, wait...hold on now...."re-attach my NIPPLE"?!?!?!?!? ok....you can't just make a statement like that and not explain! How the heck did it come to the point of having to be re-attached????

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
