the way I lay it is with my "heavy slip" film-on bottle. I do mist it in the air but it is wiped lightly to leave just a small film on the glass. You can card the film down on like a dryer sheet or soap shrink, but it is light enough that you will not have any final cleaning film to deal with.....
I use a very damp folded paper towel to lay my side lines and I do a horizontal line to divide the top and bottom as well as a line from top to bottom in the middle to make myself 4 pockets total.
You can use a hairdryer to blow air under if you have any issues with melting the edge of film with the "under" gun. The biggest trick on the the under gun is to get it close enough to lift the film and heat the air under but not close enough to begin to really shrink the film with it.....
Both guns running on high heat and I use the Wagner HT 1000 heat guns.....
One thing on the shrink is that you will be shrinking VERY fast so if you move the gun slow you will over-shrink the film. It should lay down smooth by itself if you get it moving right.....very few waves in the film...
I also lay it out with a wet check and do a small "finish" shrink on the middle top and bottom....
I am uploading the video I have of the "finishing" I will post it when it is done....
here is the video of the "finish" that I do on my shrinking......
Sort of stretching the film out in the middle top and bottom. I always seem to have these fingers on top and bottom when I do my wet check. I found that if I do this little stretch shrink out then I simply DO NOT have any issues with my install having fingers pop up.....

#2 By "tintman237" Dirty Old Cars, how to get 'em super clean
QUOTE
For those of us that have to deal with old pos vehicles, I tried something today on a 93 Integra hatch back it took me 25 min longer than tinting a (new) clean car.
Get some Sprayway glass cleaner (foam) and spray the window down like your going to wash window, take a white scrubbie and scrubbie the windows, then squeegee off and wipe edges down, then spray your water/slip solution and clean as you normally would, and install film I was quite impressed with how little effort was needed to get this old car clean
I also when getting ready to make my final squegee pass sprayed more glass cleaner and did my final pass less squeege marks on the glass to clean off when done even the customer (I do alot of work for him usually dirty old cars) was impressed with how clean it was and how much less time it took me than his cars usually do.
Hope this helps some of ya out
