2007 Malibu Wakesetter in ATR15
That's sharp!
it's amazing to me....it's an $80,000 boat. up here in our climate we can use boats like this 3 months of the year. june, july, august.....
thats a lotta $$$ for a boat, but if you wanna ski in style, thats the boat to do it in. Hope you charged big $$$ for the tint.
That's a pricey 3 months. They go fishing or is that for pulling skiers?
skiing and wakeboarding....and i charged him enough figuring it would take the time of doing 3 full 4 door sedans. and it took less time than that.
i guess that's not right....maybe 2 full 4 door sedans. and it still didn't take that long.
well for some of you out there it might have been 6 full 4 door sedans

It was laminated so i didnt want to much heat entering the units. First one I pulled out of the box was short, I miss measured it. It was for a guy that did the cabinets in my house pretty reasonable so I just charged him the cost of the film. Needless to say if I ever do another one I will charge. Are there any 'tricks' to doing boat shields? I.E. which way you orient film (factory edge on top and bottom or left and right, etc), if the seals around the edge are even on the inside and outside how to hide it, etc? Never done one or even looked at one with the thought of tinting it, although I was asked last week if I'd tint one for the guy who owns a big sign place next to me whenever he has it out of the water and at his shop next... Figured it'd be a huge pain
PS the pic of those huge machines is pretty cool. QUOTE (justn8 @ May 21 2009, 09:51 PM) [*]688416[/*] Are there any 'tricks' to doing boat shields? Figured it'd be a huge pain PS the pic of those huge machines is pretty cool. on the one I did i actually ran a vertical seam right in the middle of the corner, similar to big ford vans. I did it because I was out baking in the sun and it was tacking up way to fast to try in one piece. That customer didn't want the glass pulled, so I trimmed the rubbers all around the inside. I trimmed one click out angle out on the outside, and then bumped the top right to the seal inside. The bottom is so angled that you won't see the very tiny gap down there from the inside, its impossible. I put factory edge up/down i guess, but really kind of angled since I was using some 20" scrap film so I had to rotate it to fit. Their not as hard as they look. huh? i didn't put a frickin' seam in that window

I personally wouldn't want a seam on the glass, but it looks great in the pic. you can't even see my seam unless you knew it was there heres a pretty close up pic of it, and this was ~3 hrs after I did that window so with baking in the sun it was pretty much dry already. I think that since it was so curved and a relatively small piece of film that it wouldn't shrink anymore than it had so the seem wouldn't be as visible as on a big FG window. ![]() the seam starts on the bottom right where the dirt on the metal trim stops and runs parallel to the metal edge on the left
I think I'd try Spray Tint.
Before I put a seam in it. QUOTE (simpson @ May 22 2009, 12:57 PM) [*]688514[/*] I think I'd try Spray Tint. Sometimes you dont even need to heat shrink the curved windscreen ones if you get the angle off the roll right it sits down lovely !! With the glass out I usually don't get any since you can apply heat to the outside and push it down easier.
just a DEER
